I love how Albini shows the Telefunken mic and says „It’s worth whatever some blues lawyer wants to pay for it.“

Re: Albini shows his junk
When he describes the problem with the stairs in the old house studio; and then his vision of the perfect, big-boy, dream studio; juxtaposed with footage of the live and control rooms...
Poetic.
Poetic.

That was one of the better Albini interviews I’ve seen.

Yes, aside from that "blues lawyer" line, there was relatively less scorn and contempt than usual.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2019 4:33 pmThat was one of the better Albini interviews I’ve seen.

Exactly. How he handled the crass commercialism segment of the interview said a lot.
I enjoyed the reviews of the awful pedals he bought in Japan.

Re: Albini shows his junk
I enjoyed that thanks and I usually can't get much more than a minute into these things.
It's a bit of a public persona with him, or at least a public response. Like everyone in life, some people come across as nice but aren't and some crotchety bastards are decent and have a heart of gold. I know some folk who have recorded with him and had other interactions with him going back to the 80's and they actually described him as kindly and supportive.
It's a fucking long time ago but I remember him giving me the time of day in the mid 80's, his humour was dry as fuck but pretty much par for the course in Scotland.

Bigots, misogynists, predators, child abusers, bullies, and human traffickers deserve contempt and scorn.
Blues lawyers are just dorky adults with a harmless hobby.

Recorded at Electrical two years ago and Steve jumped in for a minute during the session. Super funny and a great storyteller. His fluffy drink is also no joke.
