Re: I fucking love Slint
I was high on cough syrup when I first heard them and we could not believe what we were hearing.

Re: I fucking love Slint
I never caught them first time around but when they reformed & did their first UK tour - performing Spiderland in its entirety - I was there.
I've only ever been moved to tears twice at a gig. Once was seeing Neil Young, the other time was that Slint gig (I doubt I was the only person welling up too). That album's a masterpiece in its own right but to hear it played live, amplified & elevated to new dizzy heights, to witness just how tight & on top of their game the band were on that night, it really was something else. I think my feet had already left ground by the time those first 3 harmonics rang out.
Yeah, I fucking love Slint too!

I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

If you mention Slint, people are usually talking about Spiderland, but I think Tweez was a solid debut in its own right. Kinda makes me think of an even more experimental Melvins album.

Re: I fucking love Slint
Yeah, it was definitely Spiderland that got me into them.
If I remember correctly it was actually a lucky punt, asking the guy behind the desk at an old indie record shop in Leeds if he had any other Touch & Go bands, other than The Jesus Lizard (who I also absolutely adore!)
Tweez, for me, was a harder album to play regularly from beginning to end. Maybe it was that experimental side to it. I know others raved about it because it had that raw edge, not to mention having Steve Albini splattered all over it. I just preferred the who vibe of Spiderland.
Any fans of Squirrel Bait here? I often reach for them straight after I've listened to Tweez. A similar era & sound, I guess. Not to mention being amazingly young for the maturity of their output (like Slint).

Tweez is a good headphones album, partly due to the sounds of someone swallowing at the start of Kent making it unwise to play loud on the bluetooth speaker.

I can't totally take Slint. It's powerful stuff and makes me remember one of my best friends, who is now dead, and that time in our lives when everything was up in the air and full of possibility. So it just hits me-- all of the good and bad with this unique sound.

I loved the Breeders record "Pod" but never really like their other, way more successful stuff.
Brit plays drums on it, I believe, under a pseudonym. Found out about it years later.
It works very well in a Slint mix.

You can totally hear it too.
Great album, by the way. Doe & Fortunately Gone are two of my favourite Kim Deal's songs ever.

Every tune on it is fantastic, IMHO.
I think I'm too much of a sourpuss to enjoy the bouncier stuff as much.

Pod is a terrific album.
Spiderland is a good album to play during a storm. I’ve always loved Washer.
