I got my body blank all finished up today for my Jazzmaster build. I put on the neck and measured from the nut to the bridge post locations (not drilled yet). I am getting 25.75", so I am off by about 1/4".
I would guess that the JMs are set up for 21 fret necks? The 22nd fret is overhung from the end of the neck, as thought it should work out, but the measurement is still off. Perhaps the template I have is off for the bridge location. I don't have my pickguard yet. It is coming from Angela's this week. I guess I just need to sit on things until I have that to check things out.
Anyone ever run into this?

The bridge post centres should be 7 1/4" from the neck pocket, which is a full nut-to-bridge-post-centres measurement of 25 11/16". The 22 frets wouldn't make any difference - all fender spec necks are the same heel-nut measurement of 18 7/16". For a 25 1/2" scale length you have 25 1/2" + 1/16" for intonation + (on a JM) 1/8" to allow for the intonation screw springs.
If you are 25 3/4" not 25 11/16" you should still be fine - it's only 1/16" and there should be enough leeway for the guard and the intonation to work out ok.

Phew, that is a relief. it probably is 25-11/16". I just did a quick check with a tape measure.

That's good - that measurement caused me some grief on my Sherwood project for a while - http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/vie ... 61#p107461

If I go with a TOM bridge (which I am leaning toward because I have a bridge and tailpiece set, and my budget is wearing thin), should the studs be in the same position?

People here seem to get on OK with TOMs in the same position - Stewart Macdonald give the "correct" position on their fret position calculator:
http://www.stewmac.com/FretCalculator
"25.562" (±0.030") from nut to center of treble-side post. Mount bass-side post 1/16"-1/8" further from the nut."

Cool.
I would love to use a wraparound, but the stud spacing would require modding the pickguard since the studs are 3-1/4" apart. I'll probably go with the TOM and stop tailpiece.
