Tremolo Pedal. Which one do you use?
Hi, musicians!
I hope I'll find what I'm looking for!
First of all, I want to say that I play an acoustic guitar for 6 years, but I'm about new to electric guitars. My friends gifted me an electric Yamaha guitar for my last birthday and I fell in love with it. I can't describe the feeling when I play solos from my favorite songs, but my goosebumps can. So, I'll get straight to the point. I consider buying a tremolo pedal, and any recommendations are welcome. I read some articles about tremolo, but I'd like to know opinions of real people. I consider options from this list, but also consider any other ones. Thanks in advance!
Btw, I recommend to listen to "Otis Redding – A Change is Gonna Come", this track made me think about tremolo pedal

I happen to love the BOSS TR-2. It’s got a nice organic, mealy, sort of phase-y tone, plus it’ll do stereo ping-pong delay, if you’re into that sort of thing. It doesn’t get nearly enough love IMHO.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

I also have the Boss tremolo TR-2. It works nicely for me, but I've never tried a different pedal so I don't know if you can do better for the price. It doesn't do 'tap tempo' though.
Wait, what? Are you talking about the PN-2 (tremolo/pan)? TR-2 only has 1 in & 1 out.

I use a Demeter Tremulator with my tremolo-less amp. It doubles as a great boost with the depth turned down.
I also have a PN-2 kicking around for getting weird.

Boss love over here. I feel lucky that my first tremolo was the PN-2. I still have it on my board and it is super versatile even though most folks just love the chop chop settings (which I don't think another pedal does as well). I was lucky and bought mine in the early 2000's before the price started to climb on these but I still see them pop up every once in a while for under $150 and honestly I still think that's a pretty good price considering what this pedal does.
The TR-2 is the standard as far as I'm concerned when it comes to tremolo. They can be found everywhere for cheap and they cover a lot of ground for not a lot of money. It's a Boss so you know the quality is good and is road worthy (I got mine for $40 used).
Lastly I own a Strymon Flint and although it is expensive if you are looking to get a reverb anyway this is a great option. The Flint is the most versatile but it is pricey. I really like the harmonic tremolo on it though.

YES! Sorry, the PN-2.

Re: Tremolo Pedal. Which one do you use?
Then first tremolo I had was a TR-2, it was good for what it was, but it was mono and I sold it off. I also still have a TC Electronics Nova Mod, it’s stereo and has 2 different channels with various modulations that you can use at the same time (or not), including tremolo.
I bought 2 Fulltone Supa-trem pedals (the big box, Custom Shop ones). They’re pricey, but they do a great job - stereo, tap tempo/double speed, and will do square, sine & “warble”, while pulsating each amp separately (ping-pong) like a PN-2. I think Fulltone has a smaller version of it now, and it may even be cheaper.
I’ve never used one, but VFE used to make an Old School tremolo. Don’t know what they go for now, but I’m a big fan of Peter’s pedals.

It's a boost booster, to boost your boost - it makes your tone much muchier.

Re: Tremolo Pedal. Which one do you use?
I have both Fulltones and the two Effectrodes. The older bigass SupaTrem 2 broke so I got a new one and after the old one is repaired it’ll become a backup. The Delta-Trem is pure experimentation at this point. I will be posting about my (bad) experience with Effectrode at some point. The Delta-Trem does patterns that no other pedal can. I’m talking about the repeats. It’s not just a choice of say, d’duh d’duh d’duh d’duh, there’s about fifty different patterns and WOW they are sooooo cool! For example something like d’d’duh d’d’ type stuff. REALLY cool sounding, kinda reminds me of those cool rhythms sequencers can do to synth tones.
The Tube-vibe truly sounds identical to the brown harmonic vibrato, except that it mutes for a 1/2 second upon both activation and deactivation! Totally bogus since the amps don’t do that. So to smoothly switch it during a song I have to use a remote switcher. But the sound is awesome...

I love my Flint, though I only use the standard Fender-ish trem and not the harmonic or square wave settings.
