Just the angle. The guard template is about 1/4” thick and obscured the pocket a little

I'd first like to say that I am perpetually inspired by the content that the members of OSG generously share with all of us. I may not always have the time, tools, energy, and $$$ that it takes to pursue this particular fascination, but here I be... a bit of a skulker really, checking in most everyday to see what I can see... and occasionally contribute.

I wish everyone the best of luck in all of their varied pursuits... don't let "things' become to precious.

And, before I forget. The timbers be some-kinda-Fir, Wenge, Alaska yellow-cedar, and Sassafras(back)…

The ridiculousness is strong with this guitar. For better or worse, I've carried the Bauhaus Vegas yellow circles/ red triangles theme from the fretboard into the knobs:

One question has been bugging me - what do you plan for stage clothes to go with this one? Keeping it on the normcore side to make it pop out or embracing the pattern overload and going full cheetah-chasing-the-zebra?

Haven't had much time to post on the board in the last month or so, things got quite hectic and my workload went through the ceiling - apparently people want new guitars & pickups in preparation for the next lockdown. I got started on this one:



...which, so far, looks like this:



For all of its understated look, I can foresee some serious head scratching down the line. The stainless steel armrest will be inlaid into the arm contour, the fret markers will be inlaid all the way down into the fretboard, etc.

working on a new project based on a kent 740. have everything sorted with wood on the way.



made the pickguard today and accidentally squared one of the pickup hole corners so made the rest to match. not ideal but i think i can live with it. the shadows in the pic really make it look worse than it is.


each coil has its own on/off switch. many hopefully useful and interesting pickup options.
excited to get moving on the body. been wanting to make something based on the 740 or 820 for years.

I need to glue the nut back on my acoustic (Seagull S6), but don't know what glue to use. I've heard the term "hide glue" around here before, but aside from assuming that's a leather-working glue, I don't know where to get it, or if something better would work? I still need to sand the old glue off the nut slot on the neck, but otherwise I'm just about ready to glue it. Mostly just want to get it done and back working again.

Just use a dab of wood glue or even CA. You only need a small dab so you can remove it if a replacement is needed. The string pressure does the most of keeping it in place.

This^. True hide glue is made from animal hide or some part therein and the traditional glue for instrument makers for centuries.
The benefit is ease of disassembly and the fact that new hide glue melts into old hide glue nicely and it almost crystallizes when dry which doesn’t deaden vibrations.
