I scored a DC-2 last night...hopefully it will become my new favourite. :)
Ooh congratulations. Mono is fine, but stereo is something unique and special.
I always liked the preset-only setup: choose one and move along.

The only pedal i use is a Boss so my hands are tied here. I like my DS-1 a lot for what it does.
Its surprising how many artists you listen to and you think "huh would be funny if they were using a DS-1", and then you find out they are (car seat headrest, slint etc)
I'd love a HM-2 someday but old ones aren't getting any cheaper. More pedals seem like an expensive luxury at this point.

There are some HM2 clones on reverb for about half the price the vintage ones are going for. You can also super cheap out and get the TC eyemaster if you're on a budget.

Probably the PN-2 or VB-2. They both seem to bring things to life.

Love the entire RV reverb line, although I only like the gate and mod on the RV-5.

Also love the SD-1 and, oddly enough the HM-3. The HM-3 makes me think I’m in Hum circa 1996 whenever I plug it in.

Oddly enough, the only Boss pedal on either board is my CE-2. I’m using a lot of pedals with dual functions at the moment to save space. I’ve rocked an all Boss board in the past though.

Tell me more about the HM-3! Have you ever used an HM-2? Is it at all similar or is it like how the FZ-2 and the FZ-3 are COMPLETELY different fuzzes? When you mentioned Hum that's one of those things where it just immediately got my attention.

I have the HM-2 and 3 (and Metal Zone). The HM-3 has some similarities to the HM-2; it’s got a 2 band eq, it’s probably closer to a fuzz than what we’d think of a metal distortion, and it doesn’t Swedish Chainsaw.

It has a different mid range character, doesn’t have the harsh high end the HM-2 can have, and is more compressed. The last point is why I think you don’t hear of it more. But it’s basically heavy 90’s alt guitar tones in a pedal.

Side point about the FZ-2 and 3. Had both for ages, preferred the FZ-3, sold the FZ-2 when prices got silly. Still have the 3.

My all-time favorite is the DM-2. I have two, one that's very noisy and crazy and another that's a lot smoother and quieter, but still crazy. I put it on everything, always.

But I think the CE-2 may be the best BOSS pedal ever, and a close personal second favorite. The things that a good old CE-2 (i love both japanese and later ones) can do on any instrument are so simple yet so unique. Fundamental pedal.

Special mention to the RV-3, which I think has aged very well and is still today a very inspiring reverb. Yes.

This is fascinating. I'm definitely going to look out for a used HM3 for a decent price now. You are the only person I've ever seen rep the FZ-3. I read somewhere that it was more of a Fuzz Face type of circuit, does that seem right? I have the FZ-2 clone that Behringer makes and I love it. I think I'm going to eventually spring for an actual FZ-2 unless they do a Waza version first in which case I'll be all over that.

The FZ-3 is legit an awesome pedal. One of the few wildly underrated Boss pedals. They don't go for a bunch of money but are really fun and sound awesome on Bass (IMHO).

Almost everything that ends in -2. Here are my experiences.
My favorite of these is the PN-2, which I've had and used actively since 1991.
I like the VB-2w as well, but it's more a niche thing for weird leads for me.
FZ-2 is cool, but currently waaaaaaaaaay overpriced.
As is the HM-2. I used that as more of a light overdrive than a church-burner.
I've owned the RV-2 twice and it's one of the warmest digital reverbs I've ever heard.
DSD-2 is also great, and weird. Like the chip can't compute fast enough so you get these strange blurs in your repeats. I think I need to get one of those again. Presuming the DD-2 operates the same.
HF-2 is a nice subtle modulation as opposed to the sledgehammer flanging of the BF-2.
PH-2 was alright, but I always felt there was a little volume drop.

I have one of those! It really does sound great! It is also very nice not having to fuck with knobs... each setting just is what it is.. either sounds "right" or it doesn't. There's some real value to that in my opinion!

I totally agree! 8)

Each setting sounds great, and in stereo it is just the most beautiful "space" effect ever...after 10 mins of playing in stereo I actually went back to mono on purpose, so that I don't ruin myself with playing in stereo forever! :D
