This one pisses me off more than most things in this thread, but at least the work seems to be solid, down to custom-making a wraparound. Enough thought went into it that it just makes it more annoying in that it's somewhat justified. Someone REALLY wanted this exact guitar.

There are like five rickenbackers on the planet that know how to party and that is one of them.

This statement is gold. I concur. It’s akin to the Ivy League destined prep from New England going through a rebellious phase. Like he moved down south and grew a mullet and became a true freebird.

I don't really get what's happened to that Rickenbacker, is there a link with close ups? What model is that...the fanned frets are original right?

Apparently the neck is off a Japanese SG that was donor for the project. The work was done at 42nd st guitars after someone smashed up a blue Rick on stage. The finish apparently peeled off the neck worryingly readily and it may surprise you to know that it never intonated...

I think specifically the 481 model. Not sure if it ever got implemented to any noteable degree on any other guitars. But as simonhpieman asys, those weren't multi-scale and the frets were simply fanned because it was believed it'd help with easy chording.simonhpieman wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 6:54 amOh yeah, they did some with the frets all slanted at the same angle...mgeek wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 3:38 amblimey! OUTSTANDING!!
My first acoustic guitar had a pencil with some grooves in it for a nut. There's something about really horribly fixed guitars that's kind of charming, sometimes.
This is an excellent rectangle

I see rusty wood screws and it just says J.J. Cale to me.
