1966 jazzmaster natural
Is it possible my 66 jazzmaster is not a refin. I dont seem to be able to add pics unfortunately. The finish is checked and definitely old but the only natural finished jazzmasters I find are all refins. When I opened it up I couldnt find any sign of paint in the cavities....im about to sell it on reverb and Im confused how to approach this particular oddity about the guitar. The guy I purchased it from said he got it in the early 90s and it was as is now when he got it..any ideas??? thanks

Fender didn't make natural refins until the mid 70s or so. There are a few Jazzmasters in natural finish from this period but they are rare as hen's teeth.
Your 66 is definitely a refin. Most likely somebody just did a good job but stripping the body entirely/correctly.
Still, pics will be able to tell more. Imgur.com is a good option to host images.

If it's a real '66 it isn't the original finish. Someone stripped it, probably a long time ago.

I seem to remember there was a similar thread asking the same question on here years ago, although I think that guitar was earlier than a 66, and the consensus on that one was that it might very well be an original natural finish. Most likely yours won't be, but it isn't impossible. I think we'd all like to see some pictures though

I remember that topic. Everyone was saying it was a refin then he posted pics and there was no paint in any cavity. The conclusion was if it was stripped the guy had surgical like precision and patience to cleanse it of anything so thoroughly

Nope, i still believe that one was original. A 1972 that was lost by the Mexican mail... I lost quite some dough there.
