Anyone for hiss?

Post by JVG » Tue Oct 20, 2020 1:38 pm

Never thought I would see a pedal with a knob called ‘hiss’, which appears to control the level of, errr....hiss.

Designed by/ad copy written by someone who's never listened to vinyl? 'Hiss' control would be more appropriate on something emulating a tape-based device.

Surprisingly it's not even the stupidest 'feature' of this thing - The emulated 'crackle' has to take the cake for that.
"I don't know why we asked him to join the band 'cause the rest of us don't like country music all that much; we just like Graham Lee."
David McComb, 1987.

Maybe they've only listened to picture discs or cheap color vinyl releases? :)

Or grew up copying LPs onto tape for portability. When I was a kid, the car had a tape deck and road trips meant needing to copy CDs and LPs onto tape to ward off insanity (and I didn't have all that many CDs). Scratches, dust, and tape hiss - the greatest hits of both vinyl and tape rolled into one!

Holding out for version 2.0. They forgot the 'drop-out' switch.

Synths have white/pink noise that people can shape into sounds. Seems like you could do similar things with this? It's not for being quiet-- it's for getting loud I'm guessing.

That's how Bachman-Turner Overdrive was meant to be heard, in my opinion.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.
