Re: Guitar Heist of the Day
no doubt tool fans will think this is some ARG where if they find one of the les pauls and divide the serial numbers by the numbers on the back of the german pressing of a bootleg live album then add pi, then you'll be allowed to touch maynard's butt as the prize.
i joke but if you've ever been stuck with a tool fan (or radiohead fan) at parties, you know how intense and annoying they can be.

I can only imagine.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Re: Guitar Heist of the Day
I used to work with a guy who was into Disturbed. It sucked when he brought them up cause he knew I liked music. I had listened to them in 6th grade and thought they were “macho” for a quick minute. Then never thought about them again. But, this guy was an avid fan and I got to hear about all the concerts etc..
Didn’t realize this sig guitar was from the band Tool. Anyway, it’s really fishy to me. How do you rob a semitruck? Or whatever truck it was
In addition, why just those guitars when there were clearly more on the truck?

Co-signed. Dated a Radiohead fanatic in the late 90’s. Had to say sorry to her victims a couple times.s_mcsleazy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 8:08 ami joke but if you've ever been stuck with a tool fan (or radiohead fan) at parties, you know how intense and annoying they can be.

My favourite way to piss off a Radiohead fan is to say "oh yeah, they did wonderwall"shoule79 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 5:22 pmCo-signed. Dated a Radiohead fanatic in the late 90’s. I love Radiohead with a passion. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Re: Guitar Heist of the Day
Doesn't this kind of heist seem like the exact thing a hardcore Tool devotee would plot and execute?
When it comes to fandom, I have never really gone all in. I have most certainly liked my fair share of bands, TV shows, and sports teams, but I find it way more fun to dislike stuff-- like not too seriously. Sort of like when you realize that some villains are more enjoyable than the good guys.

It's trendy to hate really pivotal artists these days.
Radiohead were a huge influence to everybody I knew back in the OK Computer days.
I mean, superfans of any band can be annoying, but dismissing Radiohead entirely seems very contrarian to me.

Re: Guitar Heist of the Day
I mean I have no real opinion on Radiohead as musicians one way or the other (very forward-thinking in their time, but neither my vibe nor particularly outstanding in hindsight compared to a lot of the bands they influenced), but I've spent enough time around Radiohead fans that they've soured by view of the band - every time I hear a Radiohead song I think of the umpteenth time that one of them basically shoved the damn band down my throat. Nothing Radiohead did, but the fanbase they inspire can be real damn annoying. Same with Tool, except both the fans I've met and everyone in the band except Justin Chancellor is a, well, tool. Like, come on guys just because they write in odd time signatures and play in a drop tuning doesn't mean they're progressive gods whose songs are like acid trips. I'm a prog head, Tool are just okay, if I want the cool riffs I'll go listen to The Sword and if I want the prog I'll go listen to Meshuggah or something.BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 12:09 pmIt's trendy to hate really pivotal artists these days.

Re: Guitar Heist of the Day
Tool's style was better on Undertow and earlier, in my opinion. They got too carried away with trying to be complicated and overproduced. I love prog, but it can be overdone easily.
They were better as a metal band with light prog influences.
Many fanbases are pushy like that, so I tend to ignore them. Artic Monkeys fans can be over the top too.
Every era has a few notably annoying fanbases.
Comes with the territory for bands that have a lot of versatility or a big catalog of decent original tunes.
