Orange/Blue Warmoth Jaguar
Hello Everyone,
it's time to make my Jaguar dreams come true. Or it might be considered a Jaguarillo because I want to have HSS pickups.
I got a roasted Swamp Ash body and a roasted maple neck from Warmoth.
A blue perloid pickguard.
Fender Locking Tuners
And otherwise, it's the hardware that Warmoth is selling. The tremolo they have is supposedly made by Gotoh.
I want to paint the body orange, but since the Roasted Ash has a really nice wood grain, I'm planning to do a fake f-hole on the front, that will show the wood grain.
On the back I want to spray the orange with this hexagon pattern, so the wood will also show through on the back.
Here are the first few pictures:
The parts:
Hexagon spray test:
I think I'll go for the RAL2011 orange:

Re: Orange/Blue Warmoth Jaguar
Alright, so the site had to be restored from a backup.
Here's my further progress:
I've modified the control plate with the dremel (the disc tool) to fit a 5 way switch:
I've filled the now unused holes with blue epoxy resin (and blue painted backick paper glued to it's back):
Epoxy resin:
Modified the pickguard to fit HSS pickups (and I've routed the body accordingly):
Painting the hexagon pattern on the back (I want a fade to the bare wood, so I'm not using a base coat. I hope this won't cause issues later).
Afterwards I've masked the hexagon pattern off and now I'll sand the non masked part and apply the grain filler.

thanks m8
Here's the further progress:
The orange paint is now on there, and the fake f-hole came out quite clean (the grain filling seems to be not that perfect).

I wasn't familiar with that drink, but it really does
Updates:
Decal cutout (found this on etsy)
F hole decal (I'll just use the outline)
Me with my Spray Tent (it's actually a "shower tent", very inexpensive)
Headstock with custom "Jageorg" decal, because my name is Georg. Got that from rothkoandfrost.com

That's awesome! Are the hexagons on the front too (or will they be), or just the back?

Re: Orange/Blue Warmoth Jaguar
the hexagons are only on the back. It was a bit of an experiment and in case it would have gone wrong, then only the back would be messed up which nobody would see while playing.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 6:19 amThat's awesome! But it went well.
So I actually could put hexagons on the front of something next time

That would be cool as hell. My fiancée and I both love bees, so there's something that draws me to hexagons quite a bit.Georg Figél wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 3:44 amthe hexagons are only on the back.
