I have one of those! It really does sound great! It is also very nice not having to fuck with knobs... each setting just is what it is.. either sounds "right" or it doesn't. There's some real value to that in my opinion!
I totally agree! 8)

Each setting sounds great, and in stereo it is just the most beautiful "space" effect ever...after 10 mins of playing in stereo I actually went back to mono on purpose, so that I don't ruin myself with playing in stereo forever! :D
Be careful – that happened to me... But worth it.
It's such an awesome sound, for sure!!! :-* 8)

This is fascinating. I'm definitely going to look out for a used HM3 for a decent price now. You are the only person I've ever seen rep the FZ-3. I read somewhere that it was more of a Fuzz Face type of circuit, does that seem right? I have the FZ-2 clone that Behringer makes and I love it. I think I'm going to eventually spring for an actual FZ-2 unless they do a Waza version first in which case I'll be all over that.
The FZ-3 sounds more like a tone bender to me, and it doesn’t clean up with your volume control. If someone told me it had parts in common with a FF I wouldn’t argue with them. It’s it’s own thing though, it sits well in a mix and isn’t crazy over the top.

I liked the FZ-2, but couldn’t justify keeping it, it just never got used. I didn’t really like mode 1, 2 disappeared in the mix and 3 was a great boost, but I use other things for that. The money that gets charged for them today is crazy, totally not worth it.

These days I’m more apt to use something like a HM-2/3 or Rat for my Fuzz tones. Maybe a muff if I have a pedal with a mid boost always on in front of it.

BD-2. Many others have come and gone, but it's a permanent fixture on my board. Great low gain OD and clean(ish) boost.

Since we were talking about DD2/DD3, he just happens to be demoing it here around the 40 minute mark: https://youtu.be/OL63Kap-ShQ

SD-1 camp 8) I have a normal one and a Waza one. Waza on my board, Normal for my house setting. I have tried a bunch of OD, "booteek" and all that, but I always come back to the humble SD1.

The FRV-1 is a really great and simple spring reverb emulator. Had one, sold it for something "better", was not better, bought another FVR1. Use it now on my home setting.

Actually, my home setting is a small all-Boss board : SD1, DD3, FRV1.

I also really, really, really like the Tera Echo (TE2). When it came out, everybody thought it sounded like shit. Maybe it's still the case, maybe I am the only one who likes it, but it's a important piece of my sound. I hope it will get discontinued and a great band will start using one and people will start to realise it's a great pedal :P

And the TU3/TU3... what else to say!

In regard to the RV pedals, I remember reading on another thread here a few people saying that they preferred the RV-5 over the RV-6. Aside from some modes that were or were not available on certain models, what's the difference sound-wise between all the RV's, from 2 to 6? Anyone have a particular reason for the preference?

OC-2, though I have an SL-20 on the way and I've heard a lot of good things about those

Because of this thread, I bought an SD-1 on the weekend, to go in the 1 empty space on my 3rd board.

I have no need for it at all..! (BD-2, OD-3, ST-2, BC-2 & DA-2 already) But now it's there, and sounds good, so it will get used.

I really like the DS-1 too. People are really hard on the one but I can get a few good tones out of them too

For me, it's the ODB-3. It's a bass overdrive, but it works brilliantly on guitar. Incredible for big, detailed, grainy overdrive. Bass and treble controls, as well as a wet/dry knob, make it super usable.

I had an FRV-1 and used it with my Tiny Terror. When I traded the Tiny Terror for my drip edge Bandmaster Reverb, I had a tough time selling the FRV-1, nonone wanted it, now they are discontinued and are worth at least double what I paid new. I wish I held onto it as I want a reverb i can use in front of my dirt pedals. I feel like i can never make money on gear, i sell gear before it appreciates. At least I got a good deal on the Bandmaster Reverb (Tiny Terror and $200 for the BR and a black russian muff) so I just end up even in the end.

I got a DSD-2 recently. From what I understand it's nearly identical to the early DD3s, and boy does it sound great. The repeats are bright enough to cut through the mix, without sounding too sterile or clean to be offputting.

The sampling is also pretty cool. I can't see it being usable in a live context, but you can get some weird sounds which bring instant inspiration. I've already started writing a song based on a loop I got from the sampling feature.

I think that has the same "long chip" as the DD2/early DD3s if I'm not mistaken. I think I've expressed my love for that specific thing in this thread a bunch of times. I know it's horribly cheezy to talk about "magical" chips or circuits - but there's just something about the DD2. Hard to put your finger on exactly what it is but it's just a beautiful sound. I haven't played this particular variant before, but if it's the same architecture I'm sure the sound is similar. Isn't it a great sound?

Yeah, the DSD-2 (and DSD-3, they're identical) sounds the same as a DD-2 per that long chip thingy. The only thing missing in the DSD is the DD-2's dry out for stereo, which sounds really cool!

I love my DD-2, it sits somewhere in between a modern digital delay and BBD delay sonically, if that makes any sense.
