DBL MJT Jazzy Project Finished pg. 2

Post by HNB » Tue Dec 15, 2020 3:18 pm

I got this body from horseblanket. :) He also included a MIM Jazzy neck. The only issue it had was a broken screw in the tremolo area. I ordered an extractor bit and it only took like five minutes to get the screw out. I will glue in a piece of 1/4" dowel and it will be all good.

I am going to shield it with paint and put a guard from my Japanese Jazzy. The Japanese Jazzy is getting a white pearl guard. Should be awesome and I have all the parts. (Except the shielding paint.)

By the way, the white paint in the shape of the tremolo was already there. :) The hole I made that I will fill will be under the plate totally.

Got the 1/4" dowel and cut it to length.

ImageIMG_20201215_172914 by Christopher Louck, on Flickr

Put wood glue on it and tapped it in place. :)

Tomorrow I can redrill the hole and put the tremolo on. I will likely use my chisel to square the tremolo corners to make sure there isn't any rubbing per usual.

Got the tremolo mounted just fine. I didn't need to square the corners. It moves just fine as is.

I have pearl as the current guard idea with white covers. Thinking about maybe ordering tort? ???

i love rei on the neck plate. rei is my favorite eva character. if it was me, i'd put this sticker on it so it looks like rei is peeking over the guard.

noooooo HNB don't do it, don't ruin this with tort!

I think the pearl looks sweet for a brighter, more pastel-y vibe, but if you want to ground it a bit I think 3-ply parchment or mint would be a great combo.

I'm guessing the Mex neck is pau ferro? I know folks kvetch about that a bit but honestly the lighter tone of that board really suits the overall guitar IMO.

It is a pretty piece of wood. Not as dark as rosewood, but pretty in its own way. I did order tort, but I am not 100% in any direction in anyway yet. I do also have mint as an option. :)

Shielding paint came. :) I am mostly going to be held up by roller wheels for my upper section. They are stuck in the current torture that is USPS. ;)
