New (old) Jolana Bass in a very rare colour

Post by PJazzmaster » Sun Dec 20, 2020 2:19 am

I always loved the Jolana Vikomt Bass since I was in Band where the Bass player had one for a while. She soon upgraded to a "better" Bass but that Jolana had such a nice and unique sound and feel. I always missed that sound. So somehow a Vikomt was always on my radar. I played a few Jolana Iris Basses (basically the 2 PU version of the Vikomt) but I always preferred the simplicity of the Vikomt (as well as the fact that the Vikomt has only transparent lacquer on the back of the neck whilst the Iris has a thicker black lacquer).

Jolana basses are still cheap and all in all not that hard to find. Last week one popped up for 190 EUR, I saw it by accident and I was fast :) I first thought it's a refin but it's not :o This might be one of the rarest Jolana colours out there. I found only one picture of a Jolana Guitar in the same colour. It's a type of greyish green thing. I actually really like that color :-*

Awesome! ;D What a cool bass.
I'm really liking my recently acquired Rubin 6-string, unfortunately it came without the Spy vs. Spy clandestine package. Quite disappointing to find just normal strap buttons, no sneaky screwdrivers or poison-tipped darts.
Congrats on your find, and seconding MatthewK's comments on a full pic if possible. 8)

That is amazing. I love the old Soviet stuff like this. I don't think I'll ever find any of it in a lefty orientation, so I'll probably never look, but damn this stuff is cool as fuck!!

Thanks. Indeed a cool bass and also the quality is quite solid. So you are also happy with your Rubin?
A full pic of mine will follow ! :)

Oh boy that is even better than I expected. Like a literal interpretation of the name "Telecaster Bass". The grey is very cool and the style / details are just *chef's kiss*.

That looks to be in exceptionally good condition for a Soviet Bloc instrument. What a find!
