Future Vintage: Predict currently cheap stuff that’ll skyrocket in value eventually

I've realized that likely the only way I'll ever get to own a vintage offset is to buy a Mustang... soon, before they're $6,000 too. I wish I had bought a vintage Jazzmaster 10 years ago when I first got into offsets and they were still $1,500...

Anyway, I really want a white one, but they seem to be the rarest for some reason? Or is that just the luck of the market at the moment?

Anything in particular I should look out for?

i'll keep mine then. i honestly don't think it's good. doesn't compare in the slightest to my old deluxe memory man.

my sonic blue VM jazzmaster was an incredible instrument. slight flame to the maple on the neck and headstock, played very well, sounded good. I still wish I had it, it was better than my MIM JM.

I just sold my unmodded 65 red Mustang locally on kijiji for $1000 more than I originally paid for it locally on kijiji 3 years ago. It sold in under 24 hours and I felt like I was gouging but maybe the speed of sale means I should have asked for even more, but I would have felt just so weird about that.

It's getting nuts out there. I got $400 more for it than I paid for my 66 D&B Jag (also all original) in 2017. I traded the jag last year for a bunch of cash and a purple Mascis JM, which incidentally has also shot up $1k since last year. Those things used to be $800 a few years ago and now the cheapest one in Canada is listing for $3400. $3400! That's like 50% more than the going rate on an AV65.

I got my '72 Musicmaster (all be it a badly stripped one with a modded scratchplate) for about £600 back in 2012. Now early 70's or late 60's ones (with the metal control plates) seem to be going for at least £900, with most asking £1400 plus. Makes me sad because it's unlikely I'll be able to justify getting another one- it's still a basic-as-fuck model.

musicmaster basses seem to be doing weird shit. they used to be £500 all day but i've seen people asking for like £1000+ for them.

The first issue American Pro JMs seem to be going up on the used market. They were like $900, now more like $1200. It’s weird.

Vintage Fender Offsets are being crazy and'll probably just keep going up, considering all the artists that have been using them throughout all the years up to the current days. I think vintage tele's and strats got their time in the 70's and have been going up ever since - that time is now for the offsets. I remember 12 years ago early Jazzmasters were going for 1K - 1500 and I thought it was too high. A few years later you could get Jaguars for that price and even here I remember that the general concuss was that over 1K was too high for an short scale. I paid around that price for my two vintage jaguars and $600,- for my mustang. These days that is a steal and I can imagine, that in a few years even common coloured offsets will start to be unobtainable.

ok. so what the hell happened to the prices of the tremolo'd squier jazzmaster deluxe and the fender modern player jazzmasters in red? they used to be £300 all day but i've seen people pushing them up to £400. which is a shame because i want one of the modern players in red

I barely missed out on a shell pink Squier Vista reissue for like $225 back in 2012 or so and they've only been going up since, they're only like $100 cheaper than an original from the 70s now which is wild. Luckily, I have my little Hofner 182 bass so my bass needs are satisfied.

yeah. i nearly bought one of the squiers 10 years ago for like £200 but now seeing some people asking way more for them..... jesus.
