One vote for rosewood! Maple boards on jags and JMs always look bad to me.

I'll say one more for maple, that orange needs either maple (though roasted would look better than regular IMO) or ebony -- rosewood is neither dark nor light enough.

Re: Creamsicle: spare parts jaguar!
couple more MM. this was 34mm depth. teeny tiny chip at the edge. this bit I bought is very dull: ran in reverse forever to get through the finish fine, but once it bit the wood... chips! not awful at all. pickguard covers it.
got the mute installed. flipped it for the first time and a screw broke flush with the body. the worst thing to possibly happen. frustrating. These were steel screws too.
I'll have to get one of those tubular screw extractors, then fill with wood and do it again. i knew the installation was going too smoothly... but! the mute worked beautifully otherwise

most instances i've seen of roasted maple would be way too orange compared to the finish for my taste.HarlowTheFish wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 6:28 pmI'll say one more for maple, that orange needs either maple (though roasted would look better than regular IMO) or ebony -- rosewood is neither dark nor light enough.
i'll stick to quarter sawn maple or a dark rosewood for this one, but i'm considering a new neck for my strat as the frets are totally gone. roasted maple with sonic blue is gorgeous.

took the cobain stang neck off to test, but it's like 1 mm too wide for the pocket.
I think rosewood looks just fine.

Definitely rosewood. Clay dots would be cool too
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

I wish. I'm trying to cheap out on this as much as possible. musikraft offers imitation clay at least!

Re: Creamsicle: spare parts jaguar!
thanks. i wouldn't have done it except i had so many parts and this was the only readily available used jaguar body at the time. had planned on a refin, but this color just rules. looks great in traditional garb.
the neck is from the cobain mustang so I'll be deciding where to get a neck from soon. my car needs about $2k in maintenance so this may be put on hold.
that said: pale maple headstock or capri orange?

I am in the Matching Headstock Fan Club too-- especially for an exotic color like that. You could even try and get that white Fender lettering they used for Mustangs(?)

i do love matching headstocks and want this guitar to be a kinda sibling to my daphne/matching jazzmaster. anyone on here doing white decals? that's a good look!
