Re: Phosephene Marshall Four Hole Style Head
It is probably because of power and interference. My tube amps are a little noise. Even new ones.

Oh! That's pretty cool actually. Could definitely see where that would be useful as hell for some amps...

super. did you try tweaking a bit hot or cold from 37 at idle, then play at volume? sometimes your ear can find some sustainable magic, without running too hot. it can be like ignition timing on an old car. set it to spec, and fine-tune it by ear!HNB wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 3:27 pmGot the Mullard power tubes today. I did my first ever bias. According to the internets, EL34's should bias around 37. When I powered it up, my multimeter showed it to be about 39. I turned the bias pot until it hit 36.9/37. Seems to be all good now. I turned the volume up on both channels and no popping or crackle. The preamp tubes should arrive tomorrow I think. Then I can seal it back up.

I actually mostly left it where it was. I liked how it sounded, but tested it to make sure it was in the right range to not run the tubes too hot. It has a fan built into it to help cool the tubes also. It is a really cool amp.
