Fender Jazzmaster 1962 - Mongrel or Pedigree? Help Please!

Hey hello,

I bought this Jazzmaster in Denmark Street in 2001, and I knew it wasn't quite right at the time - paid £1300 though, being young, naive and in a loverush. I played it for a few years then et it aside. In digging it out a few years ago I got to pondering - I'm older, no more wiser though so I asked a guitar tech pal to help out. Here's what we know is maybe off - not clay dots, not original decal, is the 3/62 real? It is in pencil under the lacquer.

So any help ID-ing it fine. I'm not looking to sell, my daughter has bagged it, but keen to see how stock it really is. If at all...

Decals were added over the finish, and could flake off over time (especially if helped by ham-fisted restringing). Clay dots could also fall out.
