Re: NBD - guessing game
Update:
It still feels awesome!
Some Issues; I think that the neck has seen a crappy repaint, its missing around ,5mm from the binding?! + the fretboard is painted in black.
That is strange somehow. Tuning is quiet bad, ordered new kluson violin bass tuners with brown knobs. that must look badass!
The Vibe that i get from this bass in sound is quiet 50s, mellow but straight and smooth.
And im thinking of giving it a bit of woodwork and a natural refinish, eventho it wont be on sale anyway.
The Electronics arent bad, maybe it needs a quick refresh solder and a normal 3,5mm jack.
weight is super low too, that makes it even more enjoyable!
There is a hairline crack around the side + top+bottom joint, but i think it dosnt look unstable or anything.
Hate that sticker btw.
funky!

It's possible the neck has been touched up here and there, but that's pretty much what the finishes are like on those, including the painted fretboard
+1 for leaving it alone, apart from removing the sticker. They are really cool, 50+ years old at this point too, and that one isn't in bad shape!

Re: NBD - Kremona Violin Bass
That Headstock is 1cm thick, ive messured it!
I couldnt life with that finish, i worked on it as you can see on the pics.
Stripping with heatgun + boiled lineoil finish.
It feels and looks now alot more worthy.
Body feels much more resonant too.
Just waiting to dry out + reassemble it
Is here anybody that can tell me what kind of wood types are used here?
my tought was: skunk top + bottom, sides maple. neck maple+fretboard (wierdo wood??) ?
Progress:

Re: NBD - Kremona Violin Bass
Nearly finished:
What i did after the pics where fixing that action, the bridge is really strange to get used to.
Still works!
Only problem so far is that the pickups are way to quiet.
I will maybe change them, but not sure about that rly.
And i need to refit those tuners. It is really scarry to work with because it is so thin.
I think it works quiet well together.
It feels really smooth now!
