Hmm, the pink is tempting. The fretboard wood looks nicer on the pink than the purple and many of the recent Squier's with pale boards.
What are the essential upgrades for these?

Nice, that they matched the headstock on that pink one. Very nice.

Just saw these, I love the colors! I have the CME special run purple JM with the gold guard from last year and that shade is even better in person.

It appears to come with a mustang bridge which could be good or bad depending on if it's a 65RI bridge (good) or a 69RI bridge (shit).
The stock pickups sound pretty good in the Anderton's and CME YouTube demos that came out today. That said I'll probably put a set of sjag-3's in it. Thats what sounds good to my ears though, pickups are all a personal sound thing.

Re: Squier CV pink and purple Jags
Nothing essential to change on these. I've had one of the early Squier Vintage Modified Jags, and last year I got one of the FSR Classic Vibe Jags in shell pink.
The classic vibes are essentially vintage modified mk2, they revoiced the pickups, added a mustang type bridge and a bone nut. The bodies are poplar and the fretboard is laurel, which will bother some.
They feel like a quality instrument though, much better than years gone by. And of course they look amazing. Matching headstock is an absolute winner, probably will order the pink one!

Re: Squier CV pink and purple Jags
I'm much less excited about that purple Jag than I'd have expected. Between the wrong size blocks, PF fretboard, unmatched headstock and the awful clash between cheap tort and that purple, it's way uglier than I'd expect to find such a perfect shade of purple. I love that body but I'd have to change the neck and pickguard immediately.
The pink Jag, though? Matching headstock, dots, tasteful pickguard. I'd rock that as-is. If the purple got the dots and matching headstock, I'd be compelled to buy an entirely unnecessary Jaguar. I just love that shade of purple, and this will be the second time I'm letting it pass me by.

Re: Squier CV pink and purple Jags
The only thing I wish they had considered with the pink Jag is, if it's a 60s model, they should have gone with black around gold for the logo, not gold around black. Other than that, It's my dream Jag!
Only thing that could top this is, Burgundy mist metallic with matching headstock.

I agree with all of this, and yet I bought the purple one anyway, which is an entirely unnecessary Jaguar for me as well. I justified it to myself by noting that the body looks amazing and I do not have any 9.5" radius guitars, so why notmbene085 wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 5:11 pmI'm much less excited about that purple Jag than I'd have expected. Edit: Any ideas where I can find anodized Jag guards? They might look good on this one.

The one that really got me was the Bass VI. Had I not just bought a JM I'd be all over that. Never thought I'd be a shell pink kinda guy but for a properly appointed Bass VI I reckon I can embrace it.

Re: Squier CV pink and purple Jags
i also got the purple + gold jazzmaster from last year... why does squier gotta do me like this
as tempting as this is i already own 4 basses and 2 guitars and i should probably not be eyeing this, even if it matches my refinished mexican jazz bass

I had a brief watch of the Andertons live stream, there was some talk in the comments that the pickups are different to the usual CV pickups, but no details on which models or how they differ.

Re: Squier CV pink and purple Jags
this wouldve been a way harder decision for me last year before i got that 70s bound and blocked pink jag. a matched headstock on that wouldve been perfect. i also just pre ordered a black vi, and while the pink one looks really cool (matching headstock again!), i dont really need another pink instrument.
i watched some of the livestream and its kind of interesting to hear the difference of andertons and cme ordering limited runs, cme seems to put some thought into them (this is the only 60s jag squier does now, with a matching headstock and mint green pickguard; the vi meanwhile has the blocks, headstock and white guard). andertons on the other hand just takes the most clashing horrible color combinations because one of their guys has a thing for purple. they couldve chosen the same sparkly purple and pearl from that tele deluxe from last year and maybe some gold hardware instead of chrome, but instead its boring purple that clashes with tort.

burgundy mist and maybe sonic blue jags are probably the only limited run things that i would stupidly splurge my money on.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 7:06 pmThe only thing I wish they had considered with the pink Jag is, if it's a 60s model, they should have gone with black around gold for the logo, not gold around black.
