I've had it for 10 years, I don't know if you can find the same one. Elypse brand.

Re: Fender Alternate Reality Electric XII 12-String
Looks like GC is out of stock on these- if you want one, get it quick!
Musician's Friend still has white ones listed in-stock, I'm curious to see how long they'll stay that way.
Curiously, it seems both GC and MF have a used one on their respective websites, both listed without pics at $200 above retail. (Even though MF has them new!)

Hell yes! I built my own and love it. This was years before Fender reissued it. viewtopic.php?t=109635

i love all of your guitars. i ordered a warmoth neck knowing it’s not right, but i already have the gotoh bridge. currently talking to a reclaimed wood company for a planed body blank.N0_Camping4U wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 4:40 pmHell yes! Re: Fender Alternate Reality Electric XII 12-String
i got one today. LPB finish.
upon first impressions i really like it. It played pretty well out of the store. The action is good, but i feel like it could be a bit lower. Only issue is the E saddles are bottomed out. Is this normal for these models?
There are no shims ( i took the neck off and did a slight truss tighten). I am wondering if i should put a thin shim and angle the neck a bit (thereby being able to give myself some more room to lower the bridge)?
Just curious if anyone else has shimmed theirs.... I think i recall seeing a photo in this thread from someone who had a shim in theirs out of the store/factory (?). I can't seem to find that photo now after going through random pages in this thread.
i'll do a more thorough review in a while, but if anyone has something to add re: shims/set ups on these AR xii's, then i am all ears.

I shimmed my alt reality xii. It definitely evened out the action up the neck. A fender builder on Instagram swears by shimming the xii neck. Give it a shot. You’ll have to raise your bridge saddles considerably.

Awesome. Thanks akpasta. I will do this at some point in the near future. Like I said it plays well as is. The action is fine.
I gotta say it’s a pretty amazing guitar. Such a nice neck. Very easy to play compared to my 12 string acoustic.
Out of curiosity gauge strings to people typically put on these? 9’s..? Mine came with daddarios out of the store (coloured string ends). I’m guessing those were not stock. I’m not sure what guests they are but they feel nice. I’m guessing theyre 10s but it’s just a guess.

Re: Fender Alternate Reality Electric XII 12-String
These guitars came from the factory with a set of Fender 10 gauge NPS strings. They are made by D'Addario, hence the colored ends -- and although the color pattern is not the same as D'Addario's own 12-string sets, I believe they are basically identical to a set of D'Addario XL nickel wounds in terms of relative gauges.MKR wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 3:39 pm

An easy way to create a custom set is to combine a set of D'Addario Nashville Tuning strings with a 6-string set of your choosing. This is, in fact, just working backwards from how the Nashville Tuning set was invented.

Re: Fender Alternate Reality Electric XII 12-String
String gauges on 12s are a real can of worms for me. It really depends on the guitar. I really love ricstrings.com custom compressed roundwounds 10-42. But Ernie ball 12 string lights 9-46 are kinda cool too. With 12s there’s so many options for what kind of gauges and wound types (wound or plain) to pair and they can have a huge effect on your sound from making it brighter or keeping one string from fretting sharp against its octave pair.
I’d give the Ricstrings compressed rounds a try. They work great on fender xii style necks.

Re: Fender Alternate Reality Electric XII 12-String
I just got one for my XII. It's a tight fit at the top bout...but it does fit.tape wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 9:42 am
Confirming that the Crossrock JM/Jag case is a great fit for the AR XII. The body fits nicely into the body section lengthwise, with just the slightest gap horizontally. There is just the tiniest bit of horizontal space for the body - if you're real concerned, I did take a (very lightly padded) strap and cram it against the side and that made it very cozy. There's about 2/3" of space past the headstock but it doesn't move around since the body fits so well.
And I'm quite impressed with the quality. Those latches seem strong. I got the brown with burgandy.
Very nice.
If I was a byrd, I'd be mighty sore every time they shut the door and I don't think I'd sing...
