A simple phase switching pedal?
Hello again! I like to play with two channels, a wet and dry. Using separate amps it’s no problem, but sometimes I wish to use a single two channel amp, and the channels are out of phase. I am wondering if there is a pedal I can throw on one side to reverse the phase?
That Radial Bigshot ABY seems like a cheap-ish big giant thing that would do it, but I would love something smaller. I realize that pedal is passive and can work unplugged.
I contacted Saturnworks to see if they can make one for me, but it can’t hurt to ask the board!

I just found a list of pedals that flip phase here (you may have a pedal laying around you can try).

Hey thanks a lot for this! I don't have that many pedals and none on that list, ah well. I did contact the Saturnworks fellow who told me he has a buffer pedal with phase switching, and the the passive way to do it involves a transformer and is larger. It was only $50 so I ordered it. Seems like a lot of work to make a passive one that only does that one thing!Beebe wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 2:53 pmI just found a list of pedals that flip phase here (you may have a pedal laying around you can try).

Sounds like a good way to do it. Hope it works out for you.DeathJag wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 3:20 pmHey thanks a lot for this! I don't have that many pedals and none on that list, ah well. An EHX LPB-1 (or any other one transistor boost) set to unity would switch the phase when engaged. If you want a splitter with a switchable phase inverter have a look at the Palmer PGA03. It also has a switchable ground lift. I'm using it in my two amp setup and to me it's a perfect solution: Noisefree, small, simple and rather inexpensive.

I looked at that Palmer for a while. Good to know it’s solid.Zork wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 12:55 amAn EHX LPB-1 (or any other one transistor boost) set to unity would switch the phase when engaged. If an isolation transformer is needed here’s a cheap but decent looking one I found in my searches:

Hey this looks pretty nice! I like that it uses a transformer. I would love to find a straight up passive pedal that does phase switching. I dunno I guess I like passive pedals heh. But that Palmer looks pretty dang perfect... I'll check that out if the Saturnworks one doesn't work or has too much noise.Zork wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 12:55 amAn EHX LPB-1 (or any other one transistor boost) set to unity would switch the phase when engaged. No one's used the Radial Bigshot ABY? That is large but it can run without power, so perhaps ultimately that's my best option. I guess it would be dumb for a manufacturer to make a big passive transformer pedal that only switches phase, I mean, who would want that?!!

The Lehle P Split will do it, but pricey.DeathJag wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 7:29 amHey this looks pretty nice! I like that it uses a transformer. Do polarity reversing connectors/cables exist for guitar jacks? Thats the simple option when using microphone xlr. If you dont need to switch the phase quickly.

Lehle P-Split was my thought. I've got 2 and they are fantastic. They are passive and fairly small. Since they don't have a footswitch or anything like that, you could mount it to the underside of your board as well...marqueemoon wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 8:19 amThe Lehle P Split will do it, but pricey.DeathJag wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 7:29 amHey this looks pretty nice! Re: A simple phase switching pedal?
That’s very cool about the L split. I guess some Radial pedals do it passively also.
In the meantime, $50 got me this Saturnworks pedal that takes 9 volts and only switches the phase. It works great! I would like a backup that is passive for the future tho!
Thank you all so much for your replies!

Re: A simple phase switching pedal?
Update: I used the Saturnworks with success, but I wanted a second option that was passive. So I picked up a Radial Bigshot ABY and I LOVE IT SO MUCH. The tone suck from being passive must be my thang, because it was instantly a more awesome tone. Instantly. I play surf, and all of a sudden I was hearing a true, *amazing,* classic surf tone. I played an avri jag through a ‘62 Twin and a ‘64 6g15 - you’d think those two would be enough. But it wasn’t until the Bigshot (that I first tried last night) that I just started getting goosebumps. Over and over. I was messing up my playing because truly, I was entranced by the tone. I mean, it was magical.
How awesome is it when you give yourself goosebumps?!!
I am so glad I tried the passive route!

It took me a minute to understand the issue, but now I get it and I'm glad it worked out!
