Re: Case for Fender XII
Hi Folks,
Sorry to resurrect this thread but I am considering a new case for my 66' Electric XII. I HAVE the vintage case, but it slops all over inside and is no good for transport- I move the thing around in a gig bag which is better.
I contacted G&G but haven't heard back.
Those of you with G&G XII cases, do you have any photos? Does the guitar sit SNUG inside and not slop around?
Thanks :-)

Re: Case for Fender XII
I have two G&G XII cases and both fit the guitars very snugly without them bouncing around whilst moving. Those cases are a good investment.akpasta wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 11:34 amHi Folks,

Thank you for the feedback! Are there any photos of these cases online?offkeyericdee wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 6:38 amI have two G&G XII cases and both fit the guitars very snugly without them bouncing around whilst moving. Mine is a close fit, are you sure it's the case that was meant for it? Not a bass case?

You can also use a SKB Jazzmaster case. My XII fits in there nicely!

Re: Case for Fender XII
What are the external dimensions of your XII case? Although not as sturdy as the reissues it should be a good fit for the guitar. It's not a P/J Bass case is it?akpasta wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 11:34 amHi Folks,

Re: Case for Fender XII
Hey Y'all. Just to clarify, it "FITS." Like it's the correct case and the guitar fits inside and the case closes, it just doesn't keep the guitar very safe. Like, the guitar rattles around inside and the headstock bangs against the sides because the neck support is just flat. The case doesn't hug the guitar like new cases do. Basically, a gig bag is better, and that's no good when you've got such an expensive guitar.
I e-mailed G&G and haven't heard anything back. Are they usually pretty bad about custom orders?

G&G are usually pretty good - give them a DM on Instagram and they'll probably respond on there pretty quickly.

Re: Case for Fender XII
Sorry to resurrect, but I’d an skb JM case works I’m good. I’m thinking about building a 6 string xii so basically a maverick neck, and figured finding a case would be…… expensive. This thing ain’t gonna be anything expensive, and I don’t need form fit, just tight enough to where it fits but isn’t bouncing around.jaapbossen wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 3:00 amYou can also use a SKB Jazzmaster case. Re: Case for Fender XII
The Gator JM-JAG case fits (very snugly) for just over $100, but the Crossrock Jazzmaster case is the best fit I've found. About $140 shipped from Reverb.gibs wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 5:34 pmSorry to resurrect, but I’d an skb JM case works I’m good. Lemme check the cases of my Maverick and Custom, I seem to remember they fit good - at least one of them is a good fit. Stay tuned.

Re: Case for Fender XII
Well yes this is a Road Runner case, dunno the model, but it fits the Mav nicely.
...or is the XII's headstock even larger?

...if it IS bigger/larger, this Rockcase might be a better/perfect? fit.

Re: Case for Fender XII
The mavericks just used regular electric xii necks that they filled the extra tuner holes on and veneered the headstock to cover the fillers. So it should be the same as an electric xii, unless later models that had factory fresh necks shortened the headstock up. My only worry is the bottom half of the body being a little shorter, since the cuts in the body could have removed some of the overall length, as again, the maverick took existing electric xii bodies and bandsaw to a few spots on the body.

Re: Case for Fender XII
I used to carry my ‘66 XII in an old Gibson short scale shaped Bass case. I miss that case almost as much as the guitar.
