You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Re: Sudden Guitar Obsession: Ever happen to you?
Honestly, there are times that I like and dislike all shapes of guitar, but what always makes me GAS for something is a picture taken from the butt of the guitar (neck/head at the far end). That's almost always the money-shot.

My most recent three
The first two are completely unattainable for me now, but I'm holding out hope for the penguin being my midlife crisis guitar.

I want a ES-345 so bad... There is a cool Greco copy currently on Reverb that is tempting but I feel I'll just feel remorse for not having the "real" thing.
Also started daydreaming of a USA Casino instead and one popped up today briefly at the Gibson Demo Shop, black satin paint, cheaper than a new one... Had it in my cart but hesitated and now it's gone. I think it's for the best... Someone tell me it was for the best!

Re: Sudden Guitar Obsession: Ever happen to you?
I have a hard rule for myself when it comes to GAS: If I don't obsess over it for longer than half a year, I never really wanted or needed it. Saved myself from buying a Mustang, a Tele Custom, a Vibrola equipped SG and a Jazzbox this way.
I have been obsessing over getting a Jag with JM PUs and a baritone JM for years, but now that I have the means to actually buy them, I'll be moving into a tiny apartment in Japan soon where space is a premium.

You know what that philosophy makes so much sense. I feel like for years I have treated guitars like semi disposable things like a new shirt or something. It’s hard to do a total 180 from that mindset but in his day in age it really is the way to go.Whiny Minotaur wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 12:54 amI have a hard rule for myself when it comes to GAS: If I don't obsess over it for longer than half a year, I never really wanted or needed it. I also do believe in quality over quantity. I have 6 electrics now and really have no business owning more than that so if I want something bad enough it will have to be at the expense of something I already own.

Every few months I want a Flying V. Not willing to spend Gibson prices, so it'll probably be a Greco.

I’m rarely impulsive with gear-related decisions, but definitely get obsessed.

Ah, the bane of our existence.
This happened to me with this guitar: 1967 Pelham Blue Casino
and lead me down a path to find a way to get a pelham blue casino, which was extremely difficult for whatever reason, and ended up with me putting together the guitar in this thread: Pelham Blue refin casino
I'm happy it happened when it did, because the prices on these Lennon Casinos are blown out after that Beatles documentary came out. Damn good guitar too.

Re: Sudden Guitar Obsession: Ever happen to you?
I'm suddenly obsessed by a guitar !
I've seen Altin Gün live 3 days ago. And yes it was an amaaaaaaazing show !!!!
So much groove !
Their "new" guitarist had what was in fact a spare Telecaster with Bigsby. And an Harmony Bobkat !
He played it exclusively through a Deluxe Reverb and god his tones were heaven.
I want a Bobkat so much since this show !
