My Tele is back on the bench... In the end, the change of bridge and the added black plate to cover the previous one just didn't work. So, back to the original bridge. And the black guard was fine in color, but the shape was wrong, so that had to go too. Went for white this time. And I always liked the binding tape on Danelectros, so... (but it's just regular matte vinyl tape, and it wasn't cut completely straight, but it's barely noticeable) New knobs are coming soonish. And is that a banjo armrest?

Looks great! Hope to see more photos when finished. Cool ideas! 8)

8Ω with 16 Ω option) reactive attenuator. $100-115 in parts for amps under 35 watts, maybe $150 for a 100 watter. just missing the inductor (monday). will be a pretty boring hammond box for the prototype, but I have 2 more on the bench getting fancy houses.

Image

it’s got 3 switchable stages of attenuation, and one bypass switch.

I am skeptical of this design for one reason: these resistors drop power handing rapidly as they heat up unless mounted to a very specific heat sink. I use them as dummy load for amplifiers, but keep them mounted to large pieces of metal.

the designer claims that a hammond box this size with air holes is just fine and dandy. he’s done the math and countless iterations have been built. so here we are! thanks to JohnH/JohnDH for the work!

I’m building them for the cost of parts for a few friends. it’s dead easy to add a switchable fan for long gigs/rehearsals, as well as temperature meters, but at minimum I may shove a 12v fan in mine.
Oh, funny, I have the same parts that have been sitting in a drawer for like 5 years, otherwise I would probably have been able to chip in with actual information. Funny how time passes and projects wait (patiently or not). There's a handful of other attenuator alternatives around depending on the specifics of what you might need, some of them reverse-engineered from commercial options, but there seems to be a lot of people vouching for this particular build over at the Marshall forum.

attenuators are always a poor compromise. I’ve built a few. john’s new simplified design made me test one out before I built it for a coworker.

I think I'm finally done butchering this poor Reverend :o. Next step is trying to make a passable pickguard for it.
I made this plywood pickguard to test the shape while waiting for parchment pickguard blanks to arrive. But now that I look at it, I quite like the colour, so I think I'll leave it like this for now!

Thanks! I'll keep it like that if I can get used to the feel of the material.

On that note, also, what are the replacements? Never seen any like either before....

Just got a package of goodies from eyguitar. Here's a peek at a few things to come.

Testing the fit of some Thunderbird pickups in a pickguard template. 8)

A couple of new pickguards for my strats. It's time to move those volume knobs for good. And, uh, 5 sets of bridge thimbles, cause I buy them shits in bulk these days.

It's a Duesenberg SingleTwin Domino (basically a noiseless P90 in HB form). I got it years ago; I had a friend in Italy to buy it for me as the shop wouldn't ship worldwide (and it was $30 cheaper there). Now it's fortunately easier to find. :D

I changed the pole pieces. :w00t: The easiest pickup mod there is...

I should've been clearer, I was asking about the knobs! :)

I keep staring at this like a puzzle 🤯 where are you moving them to?
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Ah, sorry! :D Read too fast, my bad... I found them on eBay almost 10 years ago now; they were sold as VOS radio knobs, if I remember correctly. It was a package of 4, so I have two extras. I bought them for for a different project (but cancelled and transformed into this one). I've never seen any other like this since...

One of a batch of laminated archtop panels... I can get one a day though the vacuum bag.

Whoa! I thought of doing this to fix an old Gretsch with a missing side panel (portion). I recognized the Roarocket name and then saw the plastic. Does it work? Must see more pics, plz!
