See if you can get a serial number from the seller. Fender keeps pretty good records of CS instruments. I don't know what year it started, but they now routinely keep a copy of the "floor traveller," which is basically the spec sheet that accompanies the guitar throughout production.

In the past, I've contacted their customer service via email with a serial number, and they've been able to tell me everything about it from stock pickups to the neck profile. Hugely helpful in deciding whether I wanted to make an offer.

Only took them a day or so to respond, too, so you should totally give them a shout.
Amazing, thank you!
Let me know if you hear back from them, I don't recall which e-mail address I used, but it was whatever I found listed publicly on their web site.

I'd wish there were more Models available with Contours. Or just a slimmer Body.
Why do they need to be so thick? An Offset Tele is sadly no Option, i have enough Guitars in this Shape.
G&L ASAT models can be special ordered with a thinner body and contours.
A G&L would be actually the Dream, but unfortunately way out my Price-League. Wish there was a Tribute-Model with contours. I love my Doheny.
Futuron's beautiful Tele's are also too expensive.
The following current non-USA models have a contour on the back:
Squier Affinity Telecaster
Squier Affinity Telecaster Deluxe
Squier Contemporary Telecaster RH
Squier Classic Vibe 70s Telecaster Deluxe
Fender Player Telecaster HH
Fender Player Plus Telecaster
Fender Player Plus Nashville Telecaster
Fender Vintera 70s Telecaster Deluxe
Fender MIJ Junior Collection Telecaster
Fender MIJ Hybrid II Telecaster
Fender MIJ Traditional 70s Telecaster Deluxe
...plus some limited run exclusives and a bunch of signature models.

Most of those are HH, but not all. (A screwdriver and/or soldering iron can turn many dreams into reality if you can find the right body in a nice colour!)

both of the player plus models have a humbucker rout in the neck and a strat single coil in the middle too so they have options if you wanna get a little weird with the pickups.

Got a reply super quick. Sadly, too early for their records.

Seller said the neck pickup was original. But as it’s a humbucker in the neck on what is a ‘52 model, too much of a risk vs the not-quite-bargain price.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Thought it pertinent to post how my AO65 currents sits. I replaced the bridge with a Gotoh low profile with brass compensated saddles, got rid of the neck pickup and rigged it up as a 1 pickup, one knob Esquire. The volume pot has a resistor added to simulate the load of a tone knob being present (but wide open) to take some of the ice-picky upper harmonics it gained from the strip down.

Still absolutely love this shade of BMM and this guitars fretboard is a super dark slab of rosewood which is lovely in contrast to the body. It records fantastically and is pretty quiet with picking up 50 cycle hum. The tall frets always take a couple of minutes playing to get used to but after that they feel very comfortable.

Overall it feels like a much more expensive guitar, and holds its own against any CS ones I've tried.
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

Solid! I put the same bridge on my American Performer and I love it. Gotoh makes awesome hardware.

I’ve been on a tear in 23 so far. I’ll now need to sell some stuff to make room, but I crossed a big one off my bucket list today.

MIJ. I have a set of jag knobs for it, and a switch tip somewhere, and then we’ll see about pickups, but this is really all about the look. It’s a tele, take it from there.

Where did you get a body from?
Everywhere I’ve inquired to has replied with the same “we don’t have the print” type of thing.
I’m having a very serious internal debate about prying this one, and building a pc off the body, and whether to sell it all off, or keep it to reassemble when my daughter sells all my garbage after I kick it.
