Re: New Epiphone Firebirds
these + selling the firebird pickups individually makes me think Gibson is gonna be doing a firebird again really soon, though probably like some set neck or non-reverse type because they avoid that with all the USA thunderbirds they make.

I really wish those FB I's had neck pickups.
Metallic custom colors, wrap around bridge, and OG head stock? I might've done it... if it were on sale

If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointments.

Re: New Epiphone Firebirds
Popped into the Gibson garage today, they had these in stock. I played the silver I through a Mesa Mk VII. Amp sounded good. Guitar felt solid. I hadn't realised just how huge firebirds are - never played one before. Neck was rather chunky. A very cool guitar, I wouldn't pay £1,300 or whatever it is for one. The nut was cleaner than the one on the Gibson Custom '54 LPC I also played, which was in basically every way a worse guitar than Johnny's '56.

A chunky neck you say? I thought skinny necks were part of their whole vibe.F15hface wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2024 3:42 pm

Those boards are looking a little dry too imo.
Really appreciate the reality shots.

Re: New Epiphone Firebirds
I mean they weren't huge, but they certainly filled the palm. Going off of other Gibsons it wasn't as large as a 57 profile but definitely more substantial than a 59. Maybe a hair shallower than the 54 custom I played. It's a long way off my faded V for sure. Nicely rounded though, so not uncomfortable.seenoevil II wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2024 4:07 pmA chunky neck you say? The reviews I have seen have all mentioned a chunky neck.
