Well I mean Antigua was never green, except in those misguided Fender Japan avocado burst finishes. It's white fading to grey, and with a yellowed clearcoat looks like the tan-to-umber fade on these Squiers.
That's a fair statement, although I think it's also fair to say that Antigua wasn't the same across the vintage Fenders either. When I was young, I remember going to a local music shop and seeing a vintage Coronado II in Antigua, and it was objectively the ugliest guitar I'd ever seen. It was much more of the green/yellow vibe. For the late 70s Antigua guitars, I've seen a handful of pictures of olympic-to-grey and a handful of yellow-to-"green". It may be that there was a change from 78 to 79. Or there was a change from one day/week to the next. Or they just turn weird colors when subjected to smoke or UV.
All that being said, I think the peachy-tan to brown burst of these new Squiers is fairly cool take on it, even though it's not a real reflection of the 70s guitars.

Good for not being spotted when out playing in the Sahara desert.

I like all the models' antigua burst finishes but the yellowish maple necks don't work for me. I think a roasted-maple or maybe amber-tinted maple necks might work better. I'd likely prefer rosewood board necks over maple necks when paired with the antigua burst finish.
Funny thing about antigua bursts - i remember years back when I first became aware of them how a lot of folks who didn't care for them called them "snotbursts". That designation has been stuck in my head ever since.
Definitely like avocado burst description better.
Still, I do like the finish well enough.

Why do they have to go and ruin a perfectly good Bass VI
Anyone have pictures of Antigua with different pickguards?

^ The black guard on the Strat is a huge improvement, the Antigua guard makes it look way too busy. Could work with the Bass VI as well.

Someone at Squier is clearly pressing ALL the buttons on the "custom guitar creator" app.

Antigua is a weird, weird finish. Very much a uniquely Fender thing. I think it works for certain shades of blue and green, but it has to be light pastel almost tones because otherwise the Antigua effect is too pronounced.

Wasn't this technically the first Antigua Bass VI?

I spy the triangle bridge that gets used on stuff like the Vintage Modified HH Jaguar.
Someone fairly near me is selling one of these for £200 in red and I'm still trying to work out if that's a good deal, because I'm cheap and always want the best of the best bargain deals.

I have a red one! They are awesome! I doubt they'll ever reissue them. So snap it up while you can.

Aftermarket Dano bridge. I haven’t found one that hasn’t caved-in in the center under bass VI and baritone string tension.

Why do I like this. Change the bridge pickup to a something chrome, single volume knob, ditch the rest of the electronics, I'd rock it. Not something I ever thought I'd be saying.

Chicago Music Exchange
has three models up for preorder in the US; expected shipping date is in October. Strangely, they don't have the Precision Bass listed yet. Hopefully that changes.
