Delightful.

The lines on that black one are great! The pickguard really works with the Tele bridge
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

Worked out well! I tried a white cover but it looked weird with the black knobs.
Still dialing it in but it’s a nice platform for a JM neck pickup.

Not an actual telemaster, but catching up on the thread I saw some folks mentioning they hate how they look. While I was never in the "they're ugly" camp, I never thought the look of the telecaster pickguard and control plate meshed well with the offset look.

And I came across a Reddit post a while ago that really shifted my thoughts on what a Telemaster should look like.

Image
r/Offset on Reddit – Shitty mockup of an offset telecaster with a thinline-inspired pickguard. Any good?

Honestly, I now believe that this entire time that they should have used thinline-style pickguards rather than the traditional telecaster inspired pickguards and control plate.

What MattK posted was what I originally had in mind but this feels like a revelation. If I ever got the finances to justify another build, I’d get a guard cut like this.

That black one’s pickguard should be the standard offering for a telemaster. It looks so much better.

I also like the thinline style guard that PuppyGirlBelly posted.

Cheers! Kind of an accident - I made it from a Squier Affinity Jazzmaster HH and most other options left large gaps and routs exposed! Also, cheapest way to go. A good learning exercise.
Fascinating details in this thread.

I am quite intrigued by the Jaguar/Mustang/Esquire mashup there!

I was going to do something similar once (hence my forum name ;D ). I like a neck pickup too much though and couldn't justify having two guitars nearly the same other than one missing a neck pickup. I just kept it as a two pickup Jaguar instead.

I do quite fancy putting a Jazzmaster neck pickup on a Tele I have (currently has a humbucker).

I put a stealth mount dirty fingers under the pickguard, new owner replaced it with a secret agent
