Replacement trem bar options for old jaguar...

Post by Down Underground » Wed Jun 11, 2008 12:17 am

Any good aftermarket trem bars that will fit a early 60s Jag? I picked up an allparts bar and it doesn't quite do the job. It rattles and fits kinda loose. This is after I removed the bridge plate and tightened everything.  I was thinking about going vintage but shoving out $150 for a peice of metal on ebay is stupid. My other option would be to replace the mounting receptacle but I don't want to do that. Any luck with the reissue Fender products?

IIRC, Fender AVRI should fit just fine.

Sounds like you got a Japanese bar (metric). Just get a Fender USA one and you should be fine - the reissues are the same size as the vintage ones.

A temporary solution until you get a replacement in is to wrap a layer or two of black electrical tape around the bar. Should help hold it in place without any problems.

Hmmm....weird. A Japanese trem bar has a larger diameter then a AVRI or Vintage. It simply would not for in a AVRI or Nintage trem collet...

If it were my early 60s jag, I'd go for a vintage bar...a nice upgrade restoration, it will fit right, look the part, and increase the guitar's value.

If you are set on not spending the $, then an avri bar should work great.

The new avri bar slipped right into this '63 trem of mine. Now the question is if you wanna spend $19 or $150 +  :wtf:
