the west labs stuff is really cool, but at those prices you're better off getting something else, maybe a tiny terror for example. But they're great examples of the valve jr's potential. No reason you can't do that yourself later on down the road. The valve jr's not gonna solve every problem at once but it's a great start and so damn cheap! the blackheart too, and it's switchable from 5 to 3 watts in case your RA is a major dick next year.

If your getting this for Dorm use you might even want to check out the Blackheart Killer Ant. My Little Giant is very loud on the 5 watt setting and 3 watts is less so but you still have to turn it up quite loud to get distortion.
On my Blackheart I switched out the tubes which added a noticeable fullness to it's sound. When I have a little bit more fun money I'm going to switch out the speaker in the cab, mostly likely a Hellatone or other lower wattage speaker.
I Love my Blackheart, it's perfect for my needs, but just don't expect to get $1000 tone for $200-$300.

Guh, digital effects. Though the larger speaker seems like a nice idea.
Also Enfield ftw. The metalcore scene there is awesome. I used to live in Walthamstow but I've moved up to Bristol.

The valve special isn't new. Its been out just as long as the junior. I've heard its just kinda meh.
I always wanted to try the Blues custom.
