Are you getting an assembled/finished one, or just getting the pre-cut wood for later assembly? What's the shipping on something that size going to run?

Is it their standard 2x10" extension cab? That's a pretty good price.
Will it have those neat lean-back legs like the originals? I love those, and all that other groovy hardware for screwing the head onto the cab and suchlike.

I think John is going with a 2x12 combo cab to aid in transportation.
I like all the mounting hardware and tiltback legs too! The extra chrome looks especially good next to a Jaguar

yup...it's the combo version....I'm gonna have to add tilt back legs myself at some point...as soon as possible
I think it'll look a lot like a vibrolux
eventualy I wanna get the head retolexed...but that'll be in the future...I can see myself going the piggy back way...once there's more money and stuff
the combo should do for now....and adding the tiltback legs will be great for gigs, as I'll be able to hear the amp better

That is an excellent idea IMO. If you had an extra set of speakers, you could swap the chassis from the head sleeve to the combo in just a few minutes. It'd be really nice to have options like that. You could put different sounding speakers in the closed back cab too, which would be nice for recording.zhivago wrote:

Getting a head cabinet and swapping the chassis in and out sounds like a good idea for my Super Six Reverb, which isn't the most practical amp ever made...

I talked to Newell a while back about having a cab made. My thought was a closed 2-10 combo for my Showman. It would look like the top halve of a Bass 10 cab. Still may do it someday, but thought I'd throw out the idea for someone else.

The only way to make it seem smaller is to put it next to an Ampeg 8x10 cab. And bear in mind that I'm an at-home player. I just had to buy it because of the price (400 EUR) and I have the option to do the head cabinet etc. I saw a guy on US eBay recently who had cut the cabinet to make a 2x10 combo and a "separate" 4x10 cabinet. Seems like a pretty good idea. The amp is essentially the same as a Twin Reverb (except a Twin has 2 speakers, Quad Reverb has 4 - you see the pattern, obviously) so it's plenty powerful at 100w for almost any purpose.
