The reason I'm called idiotbear...
...is my old band, Idiot Bear. We split up in 2003, but we had a reunion before Christmas and we're thinking of getting back together before the Big 3-0 hits us all, and record some new stuff, plus some older stuff that never got recorded before we split, but which is dead good (IOHO).
Anyway, we've set up a MySpace with three of our older songs on it. Check it out.

I couldn't listen to the first song, "They Don't Show Up," (Damn you Myspace!). My wife heard me playing "Future Song" and asked me if it was John Frusciante. You should get back together.
Why should we buy postage stamps? We can make our own.

Idiotbear,
are you the one from Edinburgh? I just lived there for 3 years and moved to York with my wife 2 weeks ago
But York is good too

Hey Marc,
Our drummer, Ross, is in Edinburgh. Me and Lynden (the bass player) live in London, and our other guitarist, Nick, lives near Newcastle.
York's a nice place though. In a reversal of your situation, my sister in law recently moved from York to Edinburgh. Hope your move is working out.

Re: The reason I'm called idiotbear...
Are you the singer of "They don't show up"? In any case, what immediately sprung to mind was the singer from Feeder, and when I looked up at the screen there was an advert for AOL about a backstage interview with...Feeder. How peculiar.
By the way, how did you decide on the name Idiot Bear? I thought it was a Radiohead reference, that is to say, the Bear logo and Idioteque. Any truth in that at all?

Don't you know that's sinful boy?

I'm the singer of all of them. And the name comes from getting frustrated with playing as Kuma on Tekken

I love those kind of stories, and Tekken as well.
I prefer their older stuff.
Re: The reason I'm called idiotbear...
Yeah, it was one of those moments when we we'd been trying to think what to call the band for a while, and nothing was working. So we were having some much needed downtime (y'know, we were university students - it's so pressurised ) and we were playing Tekken 3, and I was playing Kuma against Nick, our guitarist, who was playing as that dipshit little dinosaur, Gon. Kuma couldn't do shit against the yellow midget reptile, and I was getting more and more het up, until I got KO'd and yelled "oh, you fucking IDIOT BEAR!" at the screen.
There was this beat of silence, and Nick says "OK, that's the name of the band."
The name always divided people. Some people like it, some people think it's stupid. I like it, while acknowledging that it's stupid.
