Guitar Rig 2 or Amplitube 2...

Post by PorkyPrimeCut » Thu Apr 12, 2007 3:23 am

Anyone tryed them out?

I've been messing around with Amplitube 2 for a while but have come across a copy of Guitar Rig 2.

Before I download it I'd like to hear anyones opinion on the differences.

P.S - OK, they aren't real amps...but close.

I've never used the stand-alone version of Amplitube, but in terms of sound I think it's more generic and the valve simulation it's a bit too fake for me..Guitar Rig 2 is exceptional, it's easy to use and you can get a lot of good sounds, when I have to practice I prefer to run my pedalboard into my pc rather than using a cheap SS amp, then GR2 has a ton of options for the cab and miking that AT doesn't have..

How exactly do you connect your guitar into the computer? Just via a soundcard with a 1/4" jack? Or do you have some kind of breakout box? I was very impressed with Jonas' output which he made with Guitar Rig.

I connect directly to the front panel of my Creative Audigy 2ZS platinum that sports a 1/4" jack with a little preamp that helps a lot in boosting my guitar signal, without it you should pump the signal by the guitar rig 2 input panel, but it sounds a lot better with a real preamp especially when you go clean..for some strange reasons I get the best sound when my clean signal go very close to the clipping limit on the strongest strums..when I hit the fuzzboxes I'm always clipped but who cares, it sounds so good..maybe the software is able to translate the hi-fi clip in a real tube preamp breaking.. :)

I'm about to open Guitar Rig 2 (so long as the keygen code works!!!)

Mmmm. Its got a pretty advanced registration system that seems to be stopping me getting the complete set-up. I've got everything but only for 30 days.

The Registration Tool won't let me in. Every time I copy & paste the code provided it says its invalid. Any suggestions??

Probably not the suggestion you're looking for but maybe you should just buy it.

i´ve been using both, and i gotta say guitar rig is a lot better. amplitube is good, but it´s very limited compared to guitar rig. plus the guitar rig interface is much more inviting and user friendly IMO. amplitube is lighter on the CPU/memory though, so if you´ve got a slow-ish computer (like me) it can work faster.

I agree.

Aplitube 2 is pretty limited. At first I thought the choice of pedals & racks was pretty good. Plus it looks fabulous. Thats where it ends though. All the sounds I'm getting are kind of "samey" after a while.

After just a couple of hours this afternoon I've seen the vast differencesbetween the two. The scope for creativity with Guitar Rig 2 overshadows Amplitube by a mile!! It may not look as pretty but the choice of FX & dynamics seems limitless. A brilliant program.
