Check out my Jazzmaster

Post by warreng » Sun May 06, 2007 1:29 pm

Long time lurker, first time poster. I have learned alot from you guys and i figure you may want to see my geetar

I have noticed that i cant put pictures on here from my computer but here she is  (and i am pretty sure this wont work).
here goes anyway:
Image

CIJ that i got for $500. I havent been able to put it down since i have had it.
I have tried 3 different bridges (mustangs, TOM, and jazzmaster) and i have gone back to the original. The fret board also craps out if i do a huge bend on the 17th fret.
the mustang bridge sucked, i couldn't keep my high E in the slot for the life of me. TOM nahhh i dont want that on my fender.
The problem with the stock bridge was the screws kept unscrewing themselves.
But after a few weeks tweeking, and not wanting to do anything permanent (super glue) i came up with the idea to unscrew every screw, laydown a plastic ziploc bag, and screw them back through the bag so that the plastic filled the gaps. I havent had to touch the bridge in months.
If i knew how i would post the rest of the family:
http://www.kodakgallery.com/BrowsePhoto ... derid=2007
1997 Fender Tele Plus
1997 Fender Strat Plus
1997 Fender Strat Plus Deluxe (it has a humbucker in the bridge)
1998 Fender CIJ Jazzmaster
1991 Gibson Les Paul Standard (reversed bridge humbucker)
2003 Taylor 414cele
2006 Epiphone Viola Bass
19?? Flinthill Roundneck Resonator

Hey, that's a new one .. essentially the same trick as wax or whatever I suppose.

To post pics, you just need a stable link with image tags around it like this:

Code: Select all

[img][/img]
I've never used kodakgallery (and your link just goes to their front page so I guess it's into a protected area) but there should be addresses for IMG tags associated with your photos in there.

Listening to your myspace now .. mellow, I like it .. the first track reminds me a little of Quicksilver Messenger Service.

I've always wanted one of those late 90s tele pluses. I've got a 91 and it's definitely one of my favorite guitars ever. It's a part of me, as weird as it sounds.

yeah, love the tele as well...

I think you might be mistaken what strats you have...

The red Strat looks like a Plus Deluxe (lsr, pearl guard, Fender floyd, red/silver/blue lace pickups, locking tuners)
The Sunburst looks like a Strat Ultra (LRS fender floyd, dual red lace bucker, Ebony fingerboard)

I've always wanted an Ultra and a Tele Plus...

Very nice collection.
Need some XII pickup covers....

er.. what he said ^

good eye. it seems i have been mislabeling my own guitars for years now! i feel like my dad when he calls me by my brother's/dog's name.

i bought the ultra used and have always wondered why it had a different trem than the plus deluxe? do you know anything else about the LRS floyd?

Hey man, a bit of confusion there on my post. I typo'd LSR as LRS, this is refering to the roller nut on both instruments. The Strats seem to have the same bridge, a Floyd Rose designed unit offered on the Plus-Deluxe and the Ultra. They were refered to as 'Fender Floyds'

Don't know if you're aware but there were three guitars in that series. There was the Plus as well. The models were more or less hot-rodded 'American Standards'. The models were broken down as follows:

Plus: American Standard Trem, 3 ply pickguards on early models, pearl pickguards on later models, 3 Gold-Lace-Sensor pickups, TBX tone curcuit, LSR roller-nut, Hipshot Tremsetter in the rear cavity
Plus-Deluxe: Fender Floyd trem, red/silver/blue lace sensors, otherwise same as Plus
Ultra: Flame maple cap, Ebony fingerboard, dual Red-Lace Sensor in the bridge position, wired to a mini three-way toggle, otherwise same specs as Plus-Deluxe

Hope this is informative... I looked for a reasonable priced ultra yeras ago because I wanted and ebony board... :)  In the end I bought a Les Paul Custom :D
Need some XII pickup covers....

yeah, i figured you made a typo. The reason i ask is beacuase when i bought it, the original owner had installed a non trem bridge. So he had to put a big ugly raw peice of wood that was visible where the trem arm goes... along with a crack right at the cavity as well, it was pretty ugly, for that it sat in the shop for about a year. One day i walked in and decided to play it, and it screamed. The neck is unreal. Anyway, i look at the price and they are asking somewhere around 500 for it. I told the guy who sold me all my (as well as dads and brothers) guitars "I know this guitar has been in here for a year, i will give you 400 cash only if you put the original bridge back on." And to my suprise he said OK. It was on consignment, so he called the dude, he brought the Floyd they installed it, and she has been my workhorse ever since.

Heres the thing, the plus deluxe says Fender on it, the Ultra does not, should it be that way?

either way i dont care, i got a hell of a deal, and i wouldnt put the original back on if i had it becuase with the one i have on there now, i can touch the pickguard with the arm and it still goes WAAANNNGGGG right back in tune.
