Inside a '68 SF Bassman-Amp (Image Heavy)

I pulled the chassis from the head for my 1x15 Bassman combo build (thread here: http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/vie ... 0&t=36105), and i thought i'd take lots of pics for pr0n's sake - I know lots of you like looking at amp innards and such.

I'm not too amp-savvy, so let me know if you see a ticking timebomb cap or something equally as dangerous.

yikes! mah bassman needs a tune up! i'll start with the basics (caps), and then work up from there. i'm sure going from a 2x12 speaker config to a 1x15 will have it's own change in sound, and i wanna see how that works out first. thanks for the input! now i gotta find me some caps and a guy to change them...

Lol! I've decided not to do any work on other peoples amps as Im not good enough to do it. I have decided that I will only molest my own amps from now on, just in case something bad ever does happen.

I'll be changing the caps in my amp int he next hour(s, depending on my speed) or so. Should I take pix? Different model, but same principle.

It's quite unspectacular, really. Hardest job so far was waiting for the iron to heat up (which takes forever if you forget to switch it on after you plug it in ). Just got all the filter caps out in under a minute. I wonder if there's any idiots out there who pay money for a set of original Mallorys...

you know, i bet there are. put them on ebay as "collector's items" or something. i've sold lots of cheap items like that on ebay - helps my feedback rating, and the little bit of money i make helps pay for listing fees, etc.

OK, filter caps installed. I'll start a new thread, as to not hijack yours.

yeah-- the recap is easy work. It's a good "beginner" job, as long as you know how to safely discharge them and know to be mindful of installing them with the same polarity the old ones had.

You can ignore the other stuff for now-- enjoy your amp and if you ever want to get around to it, I bet you would like going back to the earlier-style biasing scheme.

Did anybody notice those black .047 caps next to the 47k resistors and going into the 100k resistors?
I do not see those on any AB165 schematic!!
But I do see them in my 68 Bassman that also has an AB165 sticker in it.
If you can guess what is going on there then come on over to my thread and help me figure it out!
I will now call it the ABAA165371 circuit!
