I think part of that might be that it's not completed. Once it's polished out and has the nut, hardware, and logo on it... I think it would look pretty good. But then again, I tend to like understatement. Personally, I like B&B but am not really overly fond of it.StevenO wrote: I think I kind of like how it looks with the blocks and binding MORE so than with the dots and binding, and I love dots and binding necks. It just sort of looks as though the dots and binding neck is....missing something about it that makes you go "what a beauty!". Often times blocks and binding guitars look too busy for the guitar, for me, but this one doesn't. Everything looks good!

IMO the headstock doesn't look right but if it's only temporary until the right deal comes along... then again, there's probably more to be made by sitting on the blocks neck as opposed to the allparts neck.

That's an interesting take on it. Are you saying that the B&B neck will appreciate the longer I have it? That's very true and I hadn't considered that.Jay wrote: then again, there's probably more to be made by sitting on the blocks neck as opposed to the allparts neck.
I keep flopping back and forth. I'm starting to feel like putting the block neck on there and stringing it up....

Your money is probably best spent on vintage gear than in the bank to be fair.

mmm blue!
It's not about the gear! It's about you, your hands, your imagination, your feelings.

LOVE IT! Something about that color lends itself well to to the B&B neck. That's actually my dream post 65 guitar right there...I was flipping through a Conde Naste magazine once when I was waiting to get a tire put on my car and they had a special about the Japanese music scene and one picture in there the guy had a guitar that looked EXACTLY like that...I fell in love and tore out the picture and took it home. Unfortunately, they didn't say who the band was, but I still have it to looks at...and now I'm printing out a picture of your guitar so it all comes full circle.fullerplast wrote:

I find that guitar to be absolutely beautiful!
Post a picture with it beside your gold jazzmaster and I'll need a cigarette(I don't even smoke!)

Why not just put the blocks/binding neck on the guitar, sell it, and buy the guitar you actually want?

That kind of defeats the whole purpose of the project, does it not?mcatano wrote: Why not just put the blocks/binding neck on the guitar, sell it, and buy the guitar you actually want?

How are you liking it, Doug? How is the "a" neck? I think it looks incredible. I hope it plays as good as it looks. Still wanting dots and binding?

I'm liking it (the A neck). It's actually kind of cool.
I might just start looking for a set of '66 pots and an appropriate F-plate and leave this one be.
I'll try to get some shots with the gold '59 over the coming weekend...

Yay! I'm actually really excited for these pictures. I'm glad you are liking it. I guess you're just going to have to start up another project for a Dots and Binding Jazzmaster,
