Some background-info about these pics : these photos were apparently taken in Hamburg on June 26th 1966 after The Beatles' 2 performances at the Ernst Merck-Halle that day, and in the 'Beatles Anthology'-book Paul McCartney states the following :
[while in Hamburg] we had an old booking that had to be honoured. It was strange to see all our old friends in Hamburg. It was as if we'd mutated into something different and yet we were still just the boys. But we knew and they knew we'd got famous in the meantime and that we shouldn't really be playing that sort of gig.
It was good though. I remember it being a crazy evening, very steamy. There was a lot of crying from our German gangster friends, nostalgia for the old days. I'm not sure how good a gig it was from a musical point of view, but it was quite nice to get back one last time.
I'm pretty sure that most folks here probably won't see the importance of these pics, but I'm personally really excited to see Lennon playing a Jazzmaster here, as this is - I can assure you - the only photographed occasion where Lennon or any other Beatle can be seen playing a Jazzmaster...
