I am considering one because I can't afford a Jazzmaster right now, they look cool. idk should I?

Save another 100 or 200 dollars and buy a CIJ...Way better guitar, IMO.  Have you tried the Schecter Ultra III?  Similar styling, and they play pretty nice...

I tried a baritone at GC. It was ok, nothing special.
but they do look rather cool, like Teiscos on steroids.

Theres one model that I really like, its the Ichiban, really neat looking guitar, beautiful sound, Jag/Jazzy bridge.
I think they would count as an offset, heh.
That will be the next guitar that I get!

I almost scored an Ichiban on eBay before buying my JM... but changed my mind because I realizerd they are short scaled... and I can't get used to it.. too bad, it's a beautiful guitar.

I saw that one, I love the Jazzmaster trem, but they only look good on JM and Jaguars

Eastwood..hmm chinese built..loads of different names for them alden, coxx etc but they all come from the same factories in china..Hell we could even get the factory to make us guitars, they'll do it for anyone with a few $$$. I have two which I'm about to sell today.check the for sale page later. but anyway I think they are good overall..Great in fact sound wise..but yes they do have a few flaws..feedbacky pickups..the odd fret needed regluing etc..but with a few mods they can be great!

Main prob with the reissuie airlines/nationals is: 1. they're made of wood (originals are fiberglass) 2. They have humbuckers fitted (orignals are sigle coil) So they sound nothing like an original. They also sound nothing like a jazzmaster/jaguar...the sound is like an throaty midrange roar. They also have no truss rod so buy one with a bowed neck at your peril! Umm oh yeh they're nowhere near as stable as a Fender tuning wise..but I love em..no sound like it.

Not all of the Eastwood guitars are made in China. As the Eastwood site says itself in the FAQ section...


"We make Eastwood™ Guitars in Korea and China. Basically, all models UNDER $500 are made in China, over $500 are made in Korea."


The Airline I had was fine to play. A tiny blemish on the binding and the nut was horrible but I thought the same thing of the nut that came with my Tokai ES-120 that cost well over $1000.

I hear good things about the other 12 string, the one that's got the 335 shape. that one is Korean I think and the Gretsch clones are Chinese.

What a bummer to hear about the quality. I really wanted to try one of their Gretsch clone 12 strings.

I tried one of those the other day, and I really liked it. The scratchplate looked a bit crummy IIRC, but you can just take it off.

aside from that, it was really nice for the money.

I recently picked up a pair of Eastwood Tuxedos. I bought one & traded a Les Paul Baritone for the other.




I've just installed white knobs & switch tip on the black one




All of the MIK Eastwoods I've played have been nice guitars.

I hate the pots' position in those guitars.. I always think I'd destroy them while playing.

Are you positive you can get a Jack White-style Airline for 1000 dollars?  I think thats fairly unrealistic... considering I see them in stores for 2000+ and just tried to snag one on eBay as it steadily seems to be rising over 1000.  They had one that was horribly refinished and it was already at 800.

Ah man, the prices on those seem to climb every day.  Could you still find one for $1000?  Yes, if you're incredibly patient.  But yeah, $2000 is more like it.  When I mentioned that earlier in the thread I was trying to be optimistic so as not to discourage anyone interested in going for a real Airline instead of an Eastwood.

I'd love a real one.  Really love one.  I actually almost bought a pretty close to mint one a couple years ago but I was amp shopping, not guitar shopping and grabbed my old Orange instead.

I think the Eastwood Airlines and Nationals do have truss rods, they have truss rod adjuster covers at least.
