JM + Fender Super Reverb = bliss on a biscuit

Post by greenlander » Sat Jun 23, 2007 12:13 am

Finally received my first ever Jazzmaster (AVRI from 2001) this week and today had a chance to take it band practice and try it out through my amp. It's a Fender 65RI Super Reverb, pretty much brand new. Normally I play Strats but have always been curious about Jazzmasters. Plugged it in and...

:o

ummm...wow  :o :o

...just wow... :-* :? :-*

I can't even begin to attempt to explain how good that sounded. It was totally one of those "where have you been all my life?" moments. It's like that sound you hear in your head (you know, THAT sound) but you've never quite gotten it. Well tonight I finally found it. Neck pickup on the JM.

My tone search is officially over.

Ah wow, brings back memories.  I know the feeling.  I'm so happy you like it man, this genuinely brings a smile to my face.

Right on.  :D

I didn't want to unplug it. I was seriously afraid it was just a dream and I'd wake up and never get that sound back. I'm already having withdrawals...must...play...again...soon.

Yep, I have a silverface super reverb and it sounds amazing with offsets! what settings do you use?

Surfoverb - you want pics of my amp?  ???  ;D I know, I know...the guitar. I'm going to refin it Shoreline Gold so when it's done I'll post pics.

burker - here's the amp settings I'm currently using. I've been playing Strats with 9's and lean toward the trebly side but with the JM's thicker strings it sounded WAY huger and fuller.

I plug into the vibrato channel input 1
VOL - anywhere from 2 to 5 depending on venue
TREBLE - 5.8 or 6
MIDDLE - 4
BASS - 3
REVERB - 5

For pedals I've got...guitar>BOSS TU-2 tuner>BOSS LS-2 line selector loop 1 send>ProCo Rat (early 80's whiteface)>EH Graphic Fuzz>MXR M-117 Flanger>EH Deluxe Memory Man>LS-2 loop 1 return>amp
