This is a guitar I thought I had finished some time ago. It's back on my bench getting the neck brought down and refinished--for the second time. That part is just about finished.

What I've been thinking about is whether to make a pickguard for it. If I did, I'd go with an Explorer type and, perhaps, in tort. Any opinions? By the way, the body wood is ash, walnut, amargo, maple neck through blank, amargo, walnut, and ash.

Thanks.
That's a cheap Eden pickguard which is meant for a US Jag. From Ebay. It's not bad quality for how cheap it was.

I just put it on there for kicks.

Nice- it's familiar, but still it's own thing. I like the name too.

My two Blacktop Jazzmasters are on my work table waiting on parts. I just cleaned them off though and put oil on the one neck. :)

I have internet!!!! Been without since I moved last month...

For today, anyways... Visiting parents, leaching wifi...

I'll catch you up on my last month, since I've been away from the internet...

a friend brought me his broken acoustic. I was glad to try it, since the black finish would make it easy to hide the repair.
Image

After it was glued, I drilled and doweled the break. I think it should be stronger than original, now.
Image

Then I layered up some epoxy over the cracks, especially where there were missing chips of wood...
Image

and sanded it smooth
Image

before painting it black again
Image

After wet sanding the black, spraying clear, then wet sanding and buffing the clear, it looked like the break never happened :)
Image

That was fun....

Then I made this neck from bubinga. It's going to go on my "original design" guitar (thread is.... ssssomewhere?)
Image
I doodled the headstock only minutes before cutting it out, and didn't put a second thought into it. It now reminds me of a (reversed) faucet, and unfortunately, because I had a friend in high school with the nick name "Faucet Cock" I always hear my friends' taunting voices saying "what's up, faucet cock?" every time I see this headstock now... :fp:

And last, on my (new!) workbench, is that Telemaster "ADH #1.5" awaiting clear coat.... The tele bridge will have spaces cut out of the back edge so that in addition to standard string-thru and ferrule anchoring, the strings could also pass from the trem to the saddles, uninterrupted. It should be completed, and in the For Sale section in a few weeks :)
Image

Could be a while before new pics... Not sure if/when I will be online again... Can only post from phone...

I added a Jazzmaster pickup to my 'TeleMaster' - this is the third incarnation of this particular guitar....

Also, finished building a body made by AndrewDoesHair.

And I made some progress on a '65 Jag that had been brutalized with a chisel...
