Amp suggestion for a Jazzmaster and Tele

Post by Brock the Mod » Thu Sep 20, 2007 5:10 pm

Im debating over a good combo or half stack for a Jazzmaster and Telecaster...

I could go out and buy a Fender Hotrod Deluxe or a Peavey Classic 50 for about the same price (both used however).

Is there any other amp (not looking at digital ones, Line 6's etc) that would fit one or the other?

I think you'd be very happy with a Hot Rod Deluxe.

Fantastic amps for both those guitars.

If you want a bit more drive go with the Peavey though I'd go for the 30 as 50 is overkill (well for me anyway).

Yeah the 30's I was looking into also...

What would sound good with a Bigmuff though  :D ?

...for a thin-sounding tele (or anything else) there's no better remedy than a Fender Super Reverb! those 4 10inchers sure have SOME boom!!!
yes it's big and heavy. and probably expensive. but believe me, it's well worth it. there is none higher!

I always think Big Muffs sound best run into something clean rather than dirty and the HRDX is the cleaner of the two.

Either an early seventies Super Reverb or a 4x10 Blues deville. Those two amps are great!

another vote for the HRD....check out the limitied edition ones with different color tolex too, because they also have different speakers.  The white one (I think they call it the white lightning) sounded particularly good to me.  They have a surf green one out now too!  Though, I didn't like the clean as much as the white one...

I prefer the blues deville/deluxe to the HRD. They have better speakers.

I vote Super Reverb
Why should we buy postage stamps? We can make our own.

Reverb ones are generally expensive though...

I'd get the Hot Rod Deluxe. You can get Fender reverb in the form of a Boss pedal these days.

Boss FDR-1 sounds like crap, I've heard, mainly the reverb.
Times change.  Remember when dog Jimmy used to go white and chalky?  Now it grows hair!  We got used to it. We'll get used to poly. -blueavenger

If you save your cash, you can usually find used Twin Reverb Reissues all over for around $600-650. Great amps... ;)
