Here it is in mint. Crazy about this guitar. The neck is so comfy. Do have to look under the hood to clean up some wiring and shield it properly.
Had a mastery on my jm that i switched onto this jagdue to the horrible spacing on the bridge. Can't understand how that has 't been sorted out. On the jm with flatter radius it seems to fit better.

Just put a staytrem bridge and staytrem switch tip on the KO. The 52mm spacing if the bridge makes a world of difference

Hi

I have been reading this thread for a while now. Beautiful guitars!

I was wondering how the Marrguar compares to the AVRI 62?
I could get both used for the same price and usually am a fan of vintage instruments. But the Marrguar seems to be the better deal to me because of the solved bridge issue. Otherwise I have been reading some of you changed the Marr stock bridge. Can you get vintage Jaguar tone of the Marrguar? I am a bit scared that it sounds to clean and modern for me.

Also I was wondering if anybody else removed the headstock signature like Widge Wemnan and could share some pics and explain how you did it?

Thanks!

i couldn't be happier with the marr. the bridge replacement issue is a moot point because you would probably replace the stock bridge on the avri, some people don't but most do.

my reasons for going with the marr in the first place:
-thicker neck, really is my favorite neck i have had
-pickups and wiring. still sounds like a jaguar but beefier, while still being clear and janglier if that makes sense. way more useable bridge pup sounds. and the parallel is much more useful than the rythmn circuit. i do use this on my jazzmaster and like it, but will use the parallel way more. and with the eq switch for the parallel you can get equal output to series and have a different sound. (parallel without the switch boosts the signal which is kinda cool as well). switch is easier to manage than switches.
-tremolo. i knew this would be better, but had no idea. trem sits way higher and doesn't budge from where you leave it. super responsive but stiff, no wobbling, noises, etc. and returns to tune perfectly.

go with the marrguar. mine doesn't have the signature, but i got it that way, headstock is a little smudged where signature came off. haven't really thought much about it, too much fun playing it.

I took the sig off mine. Just rubbed it off with my thumb. No marks, no damage and no evidence at all it was ever there

Thanks for the info.
Have you tried a 65 or 62 Jaguar?
Does the Marr sound less vintage and less like a "classic" Jaguar?

I just recently got a used but basically new Marr (plastic still on the pickguard). Still working on bonding with it but getting there. Haven't had a Fender short scale for almost 25 years.
Anyway with mine the bridge issue was not solved. String Spacing is way too wide with the stock bridge and actually my nut appears to be cut slightly wrong. The low E spacing is too far into the fretboard and it follows down until the high E is too close to the edge. Dumping the money into a Staytrem helped a great deal and it is livable now with the spacing but it still bugs me.
If it were a new guitar it would have gone back. I bought it used online and chose not to go back after the seller. Still this model has been around for a time and Fender has not fixed the bridge problem as far as I know. So you get a guitar that online, in videos and by Marr himself as having this great bridge and depending you'll may have to swap it out.

Sounds like I am whining, which I am but true Staytrem spacing should be a low cost fix for Fender.

have not tried a 65, have tried a 62.
listen to this comparison video. to me the marr is clearly best sounding in all positions but if you read the comments there are tons of people that prefer the 65. both sound like jaguars, but the 65 sounds wimpier to me my only quibble with the marr is that the mid position is not noise cancelling. when recording the jazzmaster i usually stay in the middle to not get hum, however i like every sound so much i won't be changing pups on this guitar.

Yeah I saw the comparison video and liked the sound of the 65 much better.
But I can't afford to buy a new guitar and on the used market over here there are only 62s and a Marrguar.
In the comments of the video someone wrote that you can easily get the 65 sound of the Marrguar with EQing.
The Marrguar would be the better deal for me and I think I will go for it.
Or do you think the Marrguar sounds more modern and it is not possible to get 65/62 Jaguar sounds out of it?

i don't think the marrguar sounds more "modern", just beefier. but still sounds like a jaguar. in a mix with other instruments and fx i doubt anybody could pick out which one was used. and with the filter switches on the marrguar i can get as thin as i would ever want.
you can get avri's cheaper, i saw a few right at 1000 when i was in the market. and they will probably hold that price. however i can't stress enough how nice the marr tremolo is. when i go back to my jm with avri trem, all flimsy and close to the strings, flopping about, it's an immediate shock.

Allright. Today my Jaguar finally arrived and I have some questions

1. The former owner removed the signature and there are some scratches that can be seen in the sunlight. is there a way to remove these scratches?
Image

2. Are your Pickups also sitting so deep in the cover?
Image

3. What is the round switch for and do your tremolo armes getting loose when playing too?
Image

4. Why are there three holes?
Image

5. There is this tiny fracture that I have seen on many Strats before. Do I have to worry?
Image

6. Is this the original Marr Bridge?
Image

7. My strap buttons are not the original ones. What kind of strap buttons are on your Marrguars?

Hope you can help me out!

I was able to find some answers by myself
Jaguaster wrote:2. Are your Pickups also sitting so deep in the cover?
According to some pictures I have found online it seems to be normal.

Also according to some pictures I have found online the bridge seems to be the original one.

Was able to find that on the parts list http://www.fmicassets.com/Damroot/Origi ... B_SISD.pdf
They are nickel strap buttons with the part number 0994915000.

Would be so great if anybody could help me on question 1, 3, 4 and 5!

Nice jag, I had one just like it. Loved it. Miss it!

Anyway, how deep are the scratches? Would they just not polish out?

The switch on the term plate is a locking mechanism if I remember. Google it or they'll be a YouTube video about it I bet.

The three holes are for the jag mute plate.

Hope this helps
