It's a good solution to the routing issues, though, using a Jaguar body as well. Had you thought of that, Loïc?

yes i thought about it but that would mean swapping pretty much the whole guitar and i highly doubt i'll find a jaguar body as nice looking as the white blonde JM body.
Also, this body cost me a lot (thanks to import duties  :-\) and the resell value will be much lower than what i paid for. it'll be too pricey for US residents and i don't even dare to dream to be able to sell it in France.

maybe i'll try to add jaguar plate but even if i don't that will not be a big deal. i'll just have to buy a jaguar one day !  :D

The problem with ideas you have in the morning is that they are maybe too close to dreams...  ::)

The problem with that is they don't really fit together right. You can see from the drawings that the Jag knobs are closer together, so the JM volume pot hole is left exposed, and the top of that piece of chrome is thinner than the JM guard at that point. Also, the JM body is routed round the pots, so moving them down means they might hit the wood. The top chrome plate is bigger than that part of the JM pickguard, too, to match the different upper horn shape. Also, the 3 switch plate will need wood glueing into the body to give it something to screw into. For me, as well, the 24" scale length is what makes the Jag special - I always think guitars with so much chrome benefit from being that bit more compact. Looking forward to seeing a Jag with those DeArmonds, though.

I was joking about the Jag body - forgot the  ;)

The Joke worked because having a Jag was the starting point of this idea ! I was conditioned !  :D

What is it that you actually like about a Jag as opposed to a JM? I think if you're after the short scale and starting with a JM body you're in for a whole host of problems ..

Simply adding the upper control metal plate on my LPB JM was a nightmare, I wish you a lot of bravery  :P

I think you might use a JM pickguard to begin, then you adapt the metal plates. I think it's impossible to do a good compromise with a Jag pickguard.

i think not: it's aCIJ body and it would probably pay for 1/3 of a CIJ Jag.

But hey that's not a big deal, that was just an idea: i don't it being a Jazzmaster  :)

I probably buy a Jaguar someday and put Filtertrons in it.  8)

It's not terribly hard to do. You simply cut pieces of wood to fit in the Jazzmaster pickup rout. After cleaning the pickup rout and sanding it you glue those pieces of wood in. After that's dry, re-rout for the lead pickup. But leave enough time for drying. And make a new pickguard which covers up the holes from the Jazzmaster bridge, unless you want to refinish the body, in which case you could fill those holes and then spray the guitar.

or even easier, do it like in the above diagram, but just rout for the neck and make it deeper than in the drawing, so the bridges line up.

(edit: but you might get too close to the neck pickup, and you need new holes for screwing in the neck. the first idea seems better)
