I don't know much about Gibsons, but this is the same shit we hear from Fender when they "modernize" their guitars with 9.5" radii fretboards, hot pickups, 6 saddle Tele bridges, trussrod adjustment at the headstock, die-cast tuners, and goofy finishes... :kMighty Tom wrote: I trust the word of the owners of my local little guitar shops over that of any Guitar Center employee, and they all advise me that the chambers are a good thing. It's not just to reduce the weight, it also has to do with simulating the sound of the choice tonewoods used in the '50s and '60s. They also advise me that the chambers (and other modern improvements including the new Burstbucker pickups) were put in practice based on feedback from people who make a living playing their guitars, and that most of the people who turn up their noses at such things tend to be collector assholes who know next to nothing about how to play their "investments." So the question you have to ask yourself is: are you in the business of collecting or are you in the business of rocking?
interesting - that's one of those (sort-of) new BFG les pauls - I wouldn't be surprised if they did them all like that these days, as that's one of the cheaper models. I never was bothered by the weight of LPs - I always wanted a Custom. But for now, I'm an SG guymagnificent studios wrote:
