Awesome score! I’ve always loved Jets, mostly because of Soundgarden.

That one in the Black Hole Sun video is great. I would have loved a Sparkle Jet, but I guess this ol' piece of crap'll have to do...BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 4:39 amAwesome score! I’ve always loved Jets, mostly because of Soundgarden.

I wasn’t even thinking of his sparkle jets. I totally forgot about those. He had a silver and a gold one. He had some regular duo jets as well.Jonesie wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 7:03 amThat one in the Black Hole Sun video is great. These look great in black, by the way. I'd like a logo'd pickguard as I appreciate those little things on a Gretsch but otherwise it oozes class.
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

It has the Gretsch logo on the pickguard, it's just kinda tonal, and was in the shadow of the trem arm yesterday.

One thing I noticed today is that the pickup surrounds are cracked in the center on my guitar. It's not a huge deal, and apparently it's pretty common with Filtertron surrounds, but it's just a little annoying.

UPDATED! UPGRADED!
Did a few upgrades today because I can't keep anything stock. I installed some TV Jones TV Classic pickups, switched out the (rattly) adjustomatic bridge for a Compton aluminum bar bridge, and I replaced the cracked pickup surrounds with new ones.
The guitar sounds / plays great. The TV Jones pickups are slightly less compressed and more airy, a little extra treble in the sound, which I like.

Looking classy! I’ve got a couple of Compton bridges but have never seen one like that. Wayne must have switched things up.

Congratulations. My first Gretsch was one of these and they’re great guitars. I get what you mean about the twang. Oddly enough, at times I feel like these Gretschs came the closest to sounding like my old 66’ Jaguar. Just the bite they got in them or something

I can understand that. Significantly more sustain though.Unicorn Warrior wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 5:44 pmCongratulations. My first Gretsch was one of these and they’re great guitars. Re: NGD: Gretsch G6128T Players Edition Jet
Also, small update. I was finally able to play this today through my amp (Marshall Origin 20 Head -> Egnater 1x12 with a G12H 70th Anniversary) all cranked up to almost ten and godDAMN does this thing sound good. Touch sensitive dynamics, going from clean to crunch with ease. Stays defined even when gain is a bit higher. Love it.

Re: NGD: Gretsch G6128T Players Edition Jet
Great score! I can imagine it sounds great through the Marshall, Filtertrons have a nice bite and also keep it together with some gain. It must be fun to play around with the Bigsby on the edge of feedback.
I love old and new Gretsches, Duo Jets too, but I needed quite some time to figure out the right type/sound/model for me. I shortly owned a '53 reissue and while I really liked the guitar I couldn't get along with the Dynasonics. Reading this I am looking forward to try one with Filtertrons again so I'll keep an eye on stock in nearby stores
