Re: Squier Cylone?
Your point is valid, and we certainly do care!
In fact, we had a long discussion about this before we "went public" with the forum. We even discussed giving the Musicmaster Family it's own section. But in the end, we decided not to cover ground that was already being covered elsewhere. While it's true those guitars are offset (and I personally love them, don't get me wrong)... we mainly intended to cover the offsets as described in the sub-title to the offset forum. We thought that shortscale.org would continue to represent the otehr models.
Everyone is welcome here. But if we lose our focus... then we lose the very reason this board came about.
I can handle some Mustang/Duo/Musicmaster/Bronco... (and similar) talk. But when 6 of 10 posts are dedicated to them... it seems the train has jumped the track. When I started seeing posts dedicated to Squiers.... well, it was too much for me.
As I said... we're open to suggestions. Treating each other badly is not a good option... and I apologise for that.
Edited to add: I've nothing against Squier either. It's not a brand OR a scale thing. I wouldn't want to discuss a Toronado either, which is Fender and 25.5" . I guess what I'm trying to say is that the board was meant to deal with the mainstream, vintage offsets... and RIs thereof. A little variance is fine, if the original intent doesn't get watered down.

Well, since the sites called Offsetguitars I don't see anyway around having discussions about Broncos, cyclones, toronados, and such. What if you started a section called Offshooters where there can be discussions about all "other" offsets and move all those discussions to that area?
Why should we buy postage stamps? We can make our own.

Well, as I said... I wasn't necessarily trying to 'get around' or eliminate the discussions of those, just wanting to make sure they don't become the main focus.Mr M wrote:i agree 100%pullover wrote: Well, since the sites called Offsetguitars I don't see anyway around having discussions about Broncos, cyclones, toronados, and such. The forum "steering group" will be discussing this... I'm sure. Offshooters is actually a pretty cool name IMO, though we'll see what/if the group comes up with something.
Stay tuned.....

Re: Squier Cylone?
I played a squier cyclone, and i had high hopes.
But it sounded like a bucket of nails being tossed around in a warehouse, and felt like a wad of bent up chicken wire.
Sure looks cool though.

So.... you liked it, huh?
I've been developing/perfecting that sound for years now. I wish I had known it came already as a package...

Raise your hands if you like the Squire Cyclone!

My first thought was "Steve albini would love this guitar."fullerplast wrote:But it sounded like a bucket of nails being tossed around in a warehouse, and felt like a wad of bent up chicken wire.

Re: Squier Cylone?
Wow, this thread has certainly got out of hand.
Can I just clear a few things up here?
The reason I asked here is so that I could get a good opinion by people who like the same guitars as me, not some strat or Gibson player who would have a different view of how it plays/sounds.
And lastly, thankyou to aen, mezcalhead and a few others for actually focusing on the point at hand.
Cheers!

I do value your opinions over the ones at Harmony-Central (which I have heard of and been to many atime, it's even in my bookmarks, however it's no good for Offsets).pullover wrote: Sorry if I am being a dick Fullerplast, but you seemed a little abrasive. Maybe he asked for opinions because he values the opinions of fellow Offsetters. But then again maybe he's never heard of Harmony-central? (Shrugs...)
I can't speak about the Squire Cyclones, but I have played the Fender Cyclone II and they are pretty cool. I'd much rather have one than a Strat.

Can somebody please post a good picture of a Squier Cyclone? I don't think I've ever seen one.
