great lookinging cab there and the grill cloth is awesome .... to answer a question which Brad raised a few pages back, that is the grille cloth with the turquoise thread in it ? If it is then it's what I used for my SFDR and looks great.
When this project is finished (ie you've done the cap job etc) would you like to write up a thread for the library (all that info about the staples and glue on the tolex is like gold dust...) and add any extra photos you may have....

relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

yeah, it's the 'wide turquoise' grill cloth from mojotone; i chose it after seeing the pic you posted of it!sookwinder wrote:great lookinging cab there and the grill cloth is awesome .... to answer a question which Brad raised a few pages back, that is the grille cloth with the turquoise thread in it ? i'll definitely see what i can do for the library write-up, but i don't have any in-progress pics of a lot of the glue or stapling...

Maybe if i do the mahogany Champ cab build, i can make sure i take tons of pics along the way. Size-wise, a 1x15 vs. a 1x8 combo cab are different, but work-wise, it's only a bit less build time and materials, and so the process would be very similar (i think, haha

Re: Bassman 1x15 Combo: Bassy's First Words!
I'm tidying up my apartment a bit today and decided that the new Bassman combo will go in the corner where I previously had the Bassman/Vibro-king cab set up. Since i had to move both around the room, I was able to compare individual weights (no scales involved). If you remember (or go back to check) the first couple pages of this thread, we were discussing weight/portability issues regarding speakers, cabs, etc.
I am happy to announce that my Bassman combo is indeed lighter than the 2x12 Vibro-king extension cab.
Maybe I should say "not as heavy as", but however you put it, it's definitely a WIN! The specs on Fender's website report the VK ext cab as weighing 55 lbs and being made of 13-ply baltic birch - i guess my use of pine paid off!

BTW, on behalf of the people of Flanders and the Netherlands, may I ask if could you please give it another name than "Bassy"?

I bet that be a cool show if the clown was replaced by a 1x15 bassman combo!Orang Goreng wrote:BTW, on behalf of the people of Flanders and the Netherlands, may I ask if could you please give it another name than "Bassy"?

I played a bassman put into a 2x10 combo cab. It sounded pretty damn good.

I feel like showing off my bassman ten in this tread.
