Market research - Prototype Mk1 complete Pg2

All instruments that aren't guitars (or bass guitars).

Yes/No and how much?

No, I wouldn't use this

Yes, and I'd probably pay $25-30 happily
9
45%
Yes, and $50-60 would be a fair price (considering packaging, R&D, etc costs)
4
20%
Yes, but $80-100 would be my upper limit (I think this is way too much, by the way)

I didn’t vote because I’d totally use this if I weren’t one of the cool Kemper guys™.

Must say, all the suggestions in this thread are slowly creeping towards “the Homer” for me.

Keep it simple and functional. I’d keep it at its current set of functions. Maybe add a sine wave at most for quick line checks. Could even use one of the existing jacks for that.

I actually think this gets better the more junk you cram in. Reminds me of those Gibson multi tools. I have a non Gibson one with a machine rule. A Swiss army tool for amps.

The way I see it, it's a high/ low situation. Either a mono-tasker that's as cheap as possible- or- something so packed to the gills with clever functionality that you just want one because they're so cool.

Additional functions:

-9V battery tester and/or emergency 9V supply line.

- ground tester

- tuner

- socket driver in common pot sizes.

Basically a guitar/Amp specific multi meter with other gizmos tacked on.

Mr. Loud

Amp Boy

Deciboy

Anyway, useless contribution after the prototype is finished.

I really like it BTW!

I voted 25 currency units, but I could see spending up to 60ish.
If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointments.

Yeah. This:

Is exactly what Im trying to avoid :D :D :D I like all the fun name suggestions though! To be honest, if you're getting to a point you'd like to be more 'prepared' for gigging then you should already be thinking about carrying a few things anyway like a guitar-specific socket wrench/screwdriver multitool (Music Nomad, etc) anyway at the minimum.

Either way, thanks for the kind words everyone, and the earlier suggestions that I managed to squeeze in. The torch will be especially useful and was insanely easy to implement.

I guess now I should start thinking about next steps.

Nice work. 8)

I'm hurt that it didn't get test-tone inclusion :'( - I needed that on the weekend! :D

I didn't have space to include a generator circuit and amplifier. Things like that would require significant miniaturization across the board to keep it compact enough.

I'm not hurt at all. ;) It's totally unnecessary as a feature.

Plugging in a mobile phone is more than sufficient. It's rare these days for people not to have one of those handy.

Could probably cram something like those musical birthday card modules in there if you just want it to make noise. They even make them with mp3 functionality these days so you could just throw in a sine or frequency sweep or whatever you want.

there ya go! That's basically everything i suggested minus the CR2032 (which i'm still fond of for making it smaller, same voltage as 2x AAs). or another compromise is using 2x AAAs.

It's a really handy guitar/backline tech tool. People who still play or work with real amps on stage will appreciate it.

So many people i know are using modelers and in-ears now but screw those people! :D

Great work.

Maybe a freemium model for the noise generator: ads with the free version, unlock for sine wave
