haledixon wrote: yeah, i'd noticed their prices have gone up considerably - seems like that for most cabinet makers. it's a little ridiculous considering i've priced all the materials at < $60 and building the basic cabinet really isn't that hard. if you're not that great at it you can get by without the fingerjoints or dovetails and just use good screws and wood glue. sand the edges round, look up a couple good tolex tutorials online to do the tricky parts and in the end save some money.
All you need to do is find a dealer, I can get the mojotone bandmaster 2x12 for $200.

You guys are a wealth of information.  I assume mojotone would rather sell through dealers, and probably post list price on their website - is this a safe assumption?

Having newell as another option is great.

OK, after some research I have "gramps amps" rebuilding a Twin Reverb into a head for me, 100 watts built to Blackface specs.  I'll post more info as I get it.

My next project is to get two bandmaster style cabs built with the dimensions of a 2x10 but with speaker cutouts to fit 12s.  I've got a few paths I'm working on, and will post more info as I get it.  My plan is to steal the speakers from my Ampeg Portabass 2x12 cabs, and ditch the tweeter.

OK, my Twin Reverb rebuild in a head cab to Blackface specs by "Gramps Amps" is almost done.  See in-progress photo here:

I'll post a review when I get it, but based on the folks I"ve talked to I won't be disappointed.  100 watts, vintage reverb. tubes...I can't wait! "Gramps" also connected me with John Hinsdale, known as "the cab guy" on Ebay, who is building me a pair of cabs in 2x10 exterior dimensions with speaker cutouts for 2x12s...Much better price than mojotone at about $400 per cab! All components will be wrapped in smooth blonde tolex with wheat grillcloth.

For those of you who watch the "For Sale" section here, you know how I funded this project!  And for those wondering...YES!...I am reliving my youth!

I'll post reviews of everything once I get it.

Yeah, I'm hoping it sounds as good as it looks (which I'm sure it will).  I can't wait to hear my Bass VI's and fretless Jazz through this amp.  Vintage reverb just can't be duplicated.

Blonde wheat is probably one of my favourite combinations for an amp.

Mercy DB, that thing is gorgeous.

I can't wait to see it stacked on the cabs.
